The LEGO Movie video game is coming out February 1, and the movie is coming out February 7, so that could tell us something.

Since that game comes out that early, why would they release the next game only a few month later? It actually shows that the Hobbit game can't come out in spring, since LEGO usually only releases their games with about half a year break between each (if you don't count the 3DS/Wii exclusives).
Yeah, we really shouldn't trust these rumors about There and Back Again to not be in the game until there is proof. It is looking very unlikely that it wouldn't be in the game. The only case where a movie was separated from its trilogy is Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and that was separated by nineteen years. The LEGO Movie is coming out in February, which means LEGO Hobbit would be released a couple months after the last game. And LEGO Hobbit had just been announced a couple weeks ago. Or was it last week? Well, if it is going to be released in Spring, it would mean it has 3-5 months of development time. They would be rushing it and it would be more glitchy than Sonic 06. Look at the amount of time LEGO Marvel was announced. It was announced around January and released in October: 9 months. And LEGO Harry Potter was announced before Deathly Hallows Part 2 was shown in theatres but was released at the same time as the film was released on DVD. November would be a lot reasonable date. I don't know how this rumor of it being Spring 2014, but that cannot be right because of severe time constraints. That would be more likely the release date of Super Smash Bros. 4, which was announced last summer at E3 than LEGO Hobbit. And it would be stupid to separate There and Back Again to rush the first game. Who would buy a really glitchy unfinished game without the movie they're excited for? A Spring release date would rush the game.
Yeah, either November or December. December is when the movie comes out so it will likely be around there. And they might have plenty of pre-release There and Back Again audio by November? Maybe not the music but the dialogue spoken on the set while filming.
I just saw Desolation of Smaug and I have to agree with an earlier point: That cliffhanger ending is a bad place to end a LEGO game. Even when you take all other LEGO cliffhanger endings, this is the biggest one. At least Obi-Wan defeated Anakin on Mustafar. At least Batman and Robin got all the villains in Arkham. At least there was a cheerful ending in LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4. At least Jack defeated Blackbeard. At least the Justice League got Joker and Lex arrested. However, in Desolation of Smaug, the Dwarves didn't win anything. They only covered Smaug in molten gold, which he shook off and flew off to terrorize Lake-town, causing Bilbo to say, "what have we done?" then it cuts to the credits. The dragon completely won. That is not a good ending. We will have to wait til There and Back Again to see the dragon slain. Smaug does get slain at the end of the book, right? Apparently he does in his Lotr Wiki article.
