You guys all know making that awesome LEGO SDCC Comic-Con exclusive Spider-Man minifigure, well, exclusive, was a huge mistake on the LEGO company's part. So let's make a petition for them to make OFFICIAL LEGO The Amazing Spider-Man 2 sets. Now who's with me?

One flaw. Mavel/Disney has those merchandising rights, not LEGO. Plus as I said I`m pretty sure the CC Exclusive Spider-Man was a comic variant.

Actually, no it was from the ASM2, but like I said Lego would have needed permission and a contract would have been signed.

I'm pretty sure when Marvel/Disney gets the merch rights, LEGO will be able to make sets, considering Marvel/Disney and LEGO have the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes theme running, with part of it dedicated to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

It would just have to be added to their contract with Disney though. It's possible to be included once the contract is renewed (purportedly at the end of 2014) so maybe there will be sets for ASM3. :P It probably comes down to what Disney wants.

I mean, it's never too late to make sets. Think of the possibilities! The first appearance of a LEGO Rhino minifigure? And from the way it looks in the trailer? C'mon! Who cares how late the make them? As long as they get made!

It's too late. :P They like to take around a year and a half with the design process when they can, more if possible (which is why movie sets often end up being so inaccurate in most cases).
Besides, they would compete with the USM sets (why do you think one of them comes with Electro?) and Marvel is already getting more than 7 sets this year.

Disney owns the merchandizing rights to the Spiderman films so I don't see why they couldn't make a deal

I still think we can petition for it. I'm pretty sure they CAN do it, they just need a little push. I mean, people made a petition for Venom to be a bigfig in LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, so I don't see why we can't try to make a petition for the LEGO Company to make The Amazing Spider-Man 2 sets. And guys, let's be honest. Do you really want to wait until 2016 to POSSIBLY get LEGO The Amazing Spider-Man 3 sets, with no real guarantee?

That's adding a small thing to a game, not increasing the size of an already large toyline and messing up their schedule. If they are going to do it, they will and a little push will have no effect if they won't. However, it ultimately it boils down to what Disney wants them to do. LEGO doesn't have as much freedom here as it does with City or Castle. Disney has to approve everything, always gets the last word, and can have the first if they want it.
I really don't care if we get sets based on the movie or not, to be honest. I couldn't stand the first movie, so I'm not really on board for the next 3+. Besides, the USM sets, as mediocre as they usually are, have much more potential than movie ones. I'd rather have Iron Fist, Nick Fury, Venom, and Dr. Doom than Lizard, Rhino, and Gwen Stacey.
