They probably thought they had enough new characters for Ninjago.

<p>Seeing as the Ninjago Movie is going to be a spin-off of the Lego Movie, I'm guessing it's the Lego Movie planet and the Ninjago planet are the same. Ninjago, however, was a separate island off of the mainland. </p>

<p>I don't really want the Ninjago Movie to be a Lego Movie spin-off, or even set in that universe, because that means that a kid is controlling them. And besides, the animation is much better. </p>
