Yesterday I went on a battlefields trip to Ypres, which saw some of the fiercest fighting of the war (1 in 4 British and commonwealth soldiers who died in the war died there). While I was there I got to see the scale of the deaths in a British graveyard and in a German graveyard which was a very sad sight. So how does this relate to LEGO, well whilst the aims of Kaiser Wilhelm were not nice many of the German soldiers were misled into signing up or were conscripted. This means they did not want to be fighting so is it fair to portray them as bad guys in a children's toy? No! The first world war is not something that should be a children's toy.
One of Lego's defining features is its ability to reach out to all ages. People have got to stop thinking of Lego as JUST a series of kid's toys. While I do agree with you, Lego WW1 sets for AFOLs would be fine; people buy model planes and tanks, so why shouldn't they buy Lego planes and tanks
Yes LEGO my reach out to a variety of audiences but it is primarily a kids toy and there for all sets (even if not marketed towards kids) are of a topic that is suitable for kids.

Quote: They could make stuff for AFOLs. Maybe only offer online. LOTR is pretty bloody. Not for kids.
Difference is how would it harm brand reputation. Lord of the rings is not frowned upon by parents, whoever Game of thrones as graphic sex scenes

I see nothing that needs to be addressed. Unless there is something wrong with people who care about the wiki choosing the logo and not people who don't care about the wiki
Minifigur wrote: You wether make it a democratic vote which by definition is open to everyone or you let an elitist group decide. Apparently the latter happened when it was decided to put ToaMeiko's design on the page. Now that the outcome of the poll doesn't match the wished for result it needs to be fixed. I am not saying that this is what happened, but if you want to you could interpret it like this. It's not like the page is only used by the community so why would it be good to exclude people from voting? And who says people who aren't part of the community don't care? I am rather new here so I would not consider myself part of the community yet. Should I also not be allowed to vote? It's not cool to make up rules afterwards. In such a case my proposed entry in the comments here should be considered as well, because apparently everything is flexible enough. (I appologise if I seem a bit harsh, but I just fail to see fairness here)
Most of our votes have a minimum edit count to stop sockpuppets and canvassing votes from people outside of the wiki. Many of the people who Hellotyler go to vote do nor care about the wiki and they are only voting because their friend told them to vote for himself. The logo should be decided by people who care about the wiki
Quote: i have a few set ideas
Nazis are world war 2. German tanks in world war 1 were boxes
World war 2
World war 2 alright i think you get the point....these sets will NEVER work, so just stop thinking about how much of a "great idea" a lego theme based of REAL WAR that millions died in would be!
My responses are in bold

Quote: People are just SPEWING terrible ideas at the moment, someone suggested a LEGO game of thrones (which is rated R and is highly innapropriate for kids) and now a World war 1 theme?!?!
The Game of Thrones idea was me :P. Just because it's inappropriate for kids doesn't mean it wouldn't look good in LEGO. And two ideas; hardly spewing, is it? I'd have thought that would be more like 4 or 5 terrible ideas.
Lego is a toy company so it does have to keep its reputation of being child friendly

Is it possible to add an easy access create page button. I don't know if it is just me but I can't find where to create a page.
I think this confirms the box colour :p
