30628 The Monster Book of Monsters is a Harry Potter Promotional set that was released on October 15, 2020.
Background
The Monster Book of Monsters, by Edwardus Lima, was a particularly vicious sentient textbook that was used in Care of Magical Creatures while Rubeus Hagrid (who thought the book's aggressive nature was amusing) was the Professor for that subject at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
The book was quite informative, but one usually found it difficult to access the information within due to the book's unfortunate tendency to try and bite off the reader's fingers. The only way to subdue the book was to stroke its spine, upon which the book opened placidly. Hagrid once gave a copy to Harry Potter as a gift.

- This set was first released at LEGOLAND Discovery Center Shanghai between October 15 and November 15, 2020 as a free giveaway with qualifying purchases of ¥1399 or more.
- This set is currently the only licensed set to have been given away exclusively at a LEGOLAND Discovery Centre or LEGOLAND Park.
- Although the set was first released at LEGOLAND Discovery Center Shanghai and was the only one to be released as an exclusive, it later began showing up for retail at other centers such as LEGOLAND Discovery Center Atlanta.
