4181 Isla De Muerta is a Pirates of the Caribbean set released in April 2011. The set includes 152 pieces and is intended for children ages six through twelve. It is based upon the first film, The Curse of the Black Pearl, and depicts the climactic sword duel between Jack Sparrow and Hector Barbossa.
Description[]
The set includes two sections of the gold-filled caverns inside the island, plus a rowboat and four minifigures. The larger section comprises a small flooded area beneath a rock arch, containing the slanted mast of an unseen shipwreck, and an elevated, gold-strewn rock platform with part of the cavern's wall. The mast is attached to an axle and can be knocked to "collapse" onto the rowboat as it moves into the water pool. Another mechanical feature beneath the platform allows the wall to spin around. By placing the regular and skeletal versions of Captain Barbossa on either side of the wall, players can simulate his transformation when he steps into moonlight. The smaller section of the set features a small rock outcrop bearing a brick-built casket filled with Aztec gold. The rowboat features two seats, two oars and a lamp mounted on the bow.
Notes[]
- Barbossa's skeleton body, legs, and arms are the same ones used in the Ninjago theme.
- Although the scene in the film contains a moment where Will "kills" Barbossa, Will is not present in the set.
- Barbossa probably holds a green apple because he is seen with one a lot in the movie.
- This is the only set that includes Elizabeth Swann.
