42069 Extreme Adventure is a TECHNIC set released in 2017. It appears to be a sort of off-roading vehicle with tracks instead of wheels. The B-model, appears to be an odd trailer vehicle, with a base and a crane on a trailer.

Description

Both the A-model and the B-model use a V8 engine driven by both axles. However, unlike other all wheel drive sets, it does not have a central differential, which means both axles have to turn. The A-model features suspension, which uses ball joints. It also features a winch, this winch has a lock controlled by a rubber piece, the winch can be reeled back with a gear. The back of the A-model can be opened, revealing a bottom compartment with a shovel, it also has two two doors, the first halves of the door are scissor doors, similar to the doors of a Lamborghini, and the bottom halves are a step. It also features two doors in the back, which reveal a fire extinguisher, and a health kit. It also features an openable roof tent It also features steering which uses an ackermann steering geometry.

The B-model features articulated steering, rear-hinged doors (also called suicide doors), a tilting cabin which reveals the engine, a detachable and deployable base, which has spring-loaded legs, openable roof and door, and a crane which can be rotated, extended, and retracted, and uses the winch from the A-model, which can pull up a cargo box.

Background

The A-model appears to be inspired by the Jeep Wrangler, but the functionality is based off a modification where the wheels are replaced with four bogie tracks.

Notes

  • The V8 engine appears to have a supercharger on it.
  • Despite the B-model not having suspension, it does feature a complex articulated joint which can act as oscillating suspension.
