4587 Duel Racers is a Drome Racers set released in 2002.

Description[]

This set contains two racecars and a starting line. The cars are both built for off-road competition. This Drome Racers set contains two ordinary minifigures, instead of the special Drome Racer minifigures.

Background[]

According to the Nestlé promo CD, these race buggies represent the H.O.T. Blazer and R.E.D. Duneblaster from teams H.O.T. and R.E.D., respectively. In the comic included in LEGO Racers Official Racing Programme 4, the H.O.T. Blazer and R.E.D. Duneblaster compete against Max Axel's RC Nitro Flash and Sever's RC Race Buggy in the season's final Multi Challenge Race. The R.E.D. Duneblaster is pushed into a canyon wall by the RC Race Buggy, causing it to crash and knock R.E.D. out of the race.[1]

Ready, set… race!
Two powerful race buggies… one high-speed race! Lock the two pull back motor cars into the start gate and begin the countdown. 3…2…1… they're off! Take both cars into the pits and rebuild them into a street racer and an off-road monster. Or combine both engines in one car for canyon racing! Includes starting gate and two Racers.

Team:

Take two hot race buggies, line them up at the start gate - and you've got amazing racing action! Lock in both cars, and it's 3...2...1...go! Send them careening and see who wins - then set them up again for a rematch.

Steer the cars into the pits and swap wheels to create a street racer and off-roader. Or combine motors to create a canyon racing monster!

Notes[]

  • Despite most other R.E.D. cars being predominantly bright red, the Drome Racers comic and Nestlé promo CD consistently refer to this set's bright yellow car as R.E.D., while the bright red car is instead identified as H.O.T. by the CD.
