4842 Hogwarts Castle is due for release in October 2010, a re-make of the Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle sets, 4709, 4757, and 5378. The set features four buidlings, which are all very different. All include technic pins so that the order of builings can be altered, thus creating different models. Close to the pins are hinges, which allow the castle to be folded up around the extended base of the Great Hall. The four buildings each possess different rooms.
Details
The first is an open-top tower which features the Astronomy Tower, A part of the library (likely restricted section) and the Room of Requirement(entrance). It is known to include two brown books and a telescope.
The next is the tallest building, which many believe is Gryffindor Tower. It contains smaller rooms, but more of them. They are the Gryffindor Common Room, the Slytherin Common Room, the Owlery and another room which many think is Filch's Office, although the features of this room are not clear. This tower is known to include multiple chairs and tables from the common rooms, bird sits from the Owlery and the fireplace which Sirius speaks to Harry through.
The Great Hall is depicted as the central building of the set and only contains the Great Hall itself. Dramatic Improvements are shown from its previous design in set 4709 Hogwarts Castle. It contains two long tables, each containing bench seating on both sides, Gryffindor and Slytherin House flags, a large cake, turkey, staff chairs up the front and the Sorting Hat with a printed design.
The last building is broader and depicts the design of set 5378 Hogwarts Castle. It contains a semi-open top tower, Dumbledore's Office and a room featuring a staircase. It is unknown whether this room is a hallway or a classroom as it features a door, Quidditch Shield, chest and Knight minifigure. Dumbledore's Office contains many potions, Gryffindor's Sword and many other accessories including a combination of red and translucent orange bricks which may be a reference to Fawkes the Phoenix. There is also a large crystal ball, which may be the Pensieve from Goblet of Fire, though this is uncertain.
Notes
- This is one of the only two sets that contain the invisibility cloak, the other one being 4841 Hogwarts Express. A violet cloak was featured in older sets such as 4751 Harry and the Marauder's Map, 4706 Forbidden Corridor and 4709 Hogwarts Castle. This may have meant to have represented the same cloak, although this is uncertain.
- At 1290 pieces, this set sets the record for the largest Harry Potter set. It also holds the most minifigures at 11.
- The Owls in this set do not have printings like the ones in 4841 Hogwarts Express do. This may indicate that the set may undergo some changes or improvents before being released.
