5948 Desert Expedition is an Adventurers Egypt set released in 1998. It contains five minifigures. It was also released as 2879. Another release of it (5909) comes with a storage container, shaped as a Mummy.

The set includes a bi-plane piloted by Harry Cane, a car driven by Sam Sinister and Slyboots, a palm tree and a tomb with a skeleton and scorpions. Many accessories are included like binoculars, a pickaxe, a shovel, two maps, a movie camera and a rifle.
