70505 Temple of Light is a Ninjago set released in 2013. It resembles a dojo and has two circular tower-like structures, topped with golden mini-dragons. The temple also features a holder for the four elemental blades, the Ninjago collectible of 2013. Also included in the set is a golden mech for the Golden Ninja. The temple can open and close. On the left of the temple there are some pictures of four men and on the right is a drumstick and gong. The set includes Lloyd Garmadon, Sensei Wu, a Stone Scout, a Stone Swordsman, and Lord Garmadon.

Background

The Temple of Light is the place where The Golden Weapons were forged. It lays hidden in the Dark Island and is the only place the ninja can reach their genuine elemental powers in order to power up Lloyd, so he would be capable of defeating the Stone Army. Lloyd finds it in the mountains of the Island of Darkness. The four ninjas then get new suits and elemental blades and Lloyd becomes capable of summoning the Golden Dragon making them able to defeat the Stone Army.

The Golden Mech was used by the first Spinjitzu Master to fight the Overlord, then stored in the Temple of Light. The ninja found it the second time they went to the temple; they plugged their elemental blades into slots, the floor opened and the mech came out. Lloyd used the mech to fly back to Ninjago, where he fought the Stone Army with it, but it was quickly destroyed.

Later in season 3, ninjas came back to the temple so Lloyd unlocks his golden powers again, because Overlord drained them to create the Golden Master's body. Lloyd succeeded and other ninjas unlocked their new elemental powers too.

Both the Temple and the mech featured prominently in The Dark Island Trilogy, in which Clouse attempted to corrupt the temple with Dark Matter in order to force the Dark Island and Ninjago Island to fuse together again so that he could rule both in darkness. To stop him, Sensei Wu employed the Golden Mech, which he had given to Cyrus Borg to repair. Clouse created a Shadow Mech of his own from shadow warriors who had been fighting the Ninja alongside Nadakhan's former crew, whom Clouse had recruited to his service. However, the Golden Mech proved victorious, and was able to restore the Temple of Light to its former glory.
