7103 Jedi Duel is an 81 piece Star Wars Attack of the Clones set released in 2002 for $8.99.
Description[]
There are two models in the set - Dooku's speeder bike and a crane-like structure. The exterior of the speeder bike is mainly composed of sand-blue and pre-2003 grey pieces. The back of the bike consists of two sand-blue wedge pieces (Parts 41747 and 41748) with printing on them, a small engine mounted on top of the pieces, and two blank sand-blue shields. The front of the bike has a 2x2 area for Count Dooku to sit on with black handlebars mounted in front.
The crane is composed of System parts for the base and TECHNIC parts for the beam. The structure is mounted on a tan 4x4 baseplate, and the base is composed of black, dark red, and pre-2004 grey and dark grey pieces. Lifting the grey handle tilts the structure. Attached to the the top are various TECHNIC elements that form the beam, mostly brown and dark red parts. This beam is attached to the base with a black ball joint, which allows it to rotate. Attached at the end of the brown beam are two additional System elements.
Two Minifigures are included in this set, both of them marking their respective character's first appearance in LEGO. Yoda is equipped with a green-bladed, chrome-hilt lightsaber, and Count Dooku is equipped with a brown cape and red-bladed, chrome curved-hilt lightsaber.
Background[]
The set depicts one of the final scenes in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones. Count Dooku has fled the Petranaki Arena, where the Battle of Geonosis began, on his speeder bike to the hangar where his Solar Sailer awaited for him to escape off-planet. However, before he could escape, he was confronted by Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi and his Padawan Anakin Skywalker. Dooku managed to defeat them both in a lightsaber duel, but the two Jedi were saved when Grand Master Yoda entered the hangar. After taking part in fights both with the Force and with lightsabers, Dooku disengaged from the duel to escape on his ship by causing a large pillar to fall towards Kenobi and Skywalker. Yoda was forced to allow Dooku to escape so that he could stop the pillar from crushing the two Jedi.
Notes[]
- This set was also included in 65106 Episode II Co-Pack.
