7418 Scorpion Palace is an Adventurers Orient Expedition set released in 2003.
Description[]
The set includes Johnny Thunder, Lord Sinister, Maharaja Lallu, Scorpion Palace Guard, and Dr. Kilroy. It has 358 pieces (not counting spare parts). The set comes with two models: an elephant and the eponymous Scorpion Palace.
The Scorpion Palace is designed in the style of Indian buildings such as the Taj Mahal, with two smaller domed towers on the sides and one large dome in the center. It is primarily white, dark orange, and earth blue. A large black scorpion idol is located beneath the central dome, and it has a treasure chest placed between its claws. When the scorpion's claws are moved, a boulder rolls out from inside the palace. The central dome contains the Golden Shield, which is placed on a pedestal atop a trapdoor.
The set also contains map tiles and playing cards for the Orient Expedition board game. The goal of this game is to collect treasure, overcome the challenges in the Scorpion Palace, retrieve the Golden Shield, and make it to the end with the most points.
Background[]
The Scorpion Palace is the residence of the cruel Maharaja Lallu and the hiding place of Marco Polo's Golden Shield. It is referred to as "the sting of the jungle" in Polo's clues. The Adventurers arrive at the Scorpion Palace after Lord Sinister and the Maharaja, but Johnny Thunder is able to trick Lord Sinister into triggering the boulder trap while Babloo deposes the Maharaja. The Adventurers successfully find the Golden Shield and the next map piece to Mt. Everest.
