Background[]

After Kal-El and Lois Lane escaped from the Black Zero, Kal-El attacked General Zod, who had threatened his mother. He damaged Zod's helmet, exposing him to Earth's atmosphere,weakening him and forcing him to retreat. He then battled Faora and Nam-Ek on Smallville's streets, and managed to defeat them, earning Colonel Hardy's trust in the process.
