8364 Multi-Challenge Race Track is a Drome Racers set released in 2003.

Description[]

The set consists chiefly of a racetrack, with three different configurations featured in the building instructions. The set includes two racecar chassis with rechargeable motors, which can be outfitted with car bodies and drivers pertaining to Nitro, H.O.T., Maverick, and EXO Force, as indicated by their team emblems on their helmets and cars. High-speed racing action!
Are you ready for the ultimate racing challenge? Take on a friend on the Multi-Challenge Race Track, but watch out -- if your car starts to run out of energy, you'll have to pull into the pits and recharge! It takes speed, skill and strategy to win on this track. Power slide around corners, then shift lanes and head into the pit. How long will you recharge, a few seconds or all the way to full power? Your call might decide the race! Build the track how you like and add jumps and other challenges along the way. It's LEGO racing action like you've never seen it before! Batteries required (not included).

The latest innovation in high-speed racing, the Multi-Challenge Race Track was designed to really challenge the skills and strategy of drivers. Power sources concealed in the pits charge up the cars, but drivers have to decide how much energy they want at any one time. Do they wait for a full charge, and chance falling behind, or do they take a partial charge and risk running low in the final laps?

But the track is more than its energy chargers. Engineers redesign it before every race, adding jumps and other obstacles. Attempts by drivers and crews to get a look at the layout before race day are strictly forbidden. As a result, drawing a race on the Multi-Challenge Track is considered the ultimate test of a Racer.
