Daisy Johnson, formerly known as Skye and legally known as Mary Sue Poots, is a genius-level hacker who had worked for the Rising Tide and is now a S.H.I.E.L.D. operative. She was born to Calvin L. Johnson, a doctor working in China, and Jiaying, an Inhuman woman who was seemingly killed by HYDRA soon after Daisy's birth. Growing up an orphan juggled around by S.H.I.E.L.D., she adopted the name Skye and worked for the Rising Tide "hacktivist" group so she could reveal the truth about the existence of aliens, superheroes, and demigods to the world. When she appeared on S.H.I.E.L.D.'s radar, Phil Coulson recruited her into his team. However, the real reason why she agreed to join S.H.I.E.L.D. was to discover the truth about her lost parents. She joined them as a consultant, becoming a valued member of the team throughout the course of their missions. Skye finally gained official S.H.I.E.L.D. membership just before the hunt for the Clairvoyant. After the events of the HYDRA Uprising, she joined the rest of her team is going off the grid. Skye was devastated when she learned that fellow agent Grant Ward was a HYDRA operative, and she joined the team in defeating the Centipede Project and John Garrett.
When Agent Coulson became the new Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., Skye, along with the rest of the team, went with him to begin rebuilding S.H.I.E.L.D. She worked to stop HYDRA in the following months, eventually leading her to discover the truth behind her origin. In the series of events that followed, Skye reunited with her father. She discovered the alien-based origin of her mother's lineage, and, after a grueling altercation against Daniel Whitehall's forces, Skye was exposed to the Terrigen Mist, granting her vibration manipulation abilities, which caused her to be put on the Index and be removed from active duty. The activation of her abilities alerted the attention of other Inhumans, and when another S.H.I.E.L.D. faction led by Robert Gonzales attacked her, the Inhuman Gordon took her to Afterlife to help her better understand her powers. She was eventually reunited with her moter, nd later played a large role in the conflict between the reunified S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Inhumans.
In the aftermath of that war, Skye assumed her birth name, and now known as Daisy Johnson, she became the first recruit and leader for the special team of super-powered individuals put together by Director Coulson. In that role, she began working closely with Alphonso Mackenzie to find new Inhumans. Johnson eventually led the Secret Warriors in their battle against HYDRA.
