Brickipedia:About

Brickipedia, located at lego.wikia.com, is the LEGO wiki, which began on March 4, 2005. Brickipedia's goal is to provide a free online encyclopedia on LEGO. More than four years after it was established, Brickipedia has reached a size of 40,005 articles, and has had over 500 contributors (with 89 of them active ones).

History

The first days of the LEGO wiki

When this wiki was first created, Brickipedia was obviously small. The only user was the first administrator, Darth smith. He, however, vanished from this and other wikis alike, and has been inactive since October of 2007, with only about 300 edits.

After that, roaming editors would make some edits (Though even 50 edits were alot, considering the amount of articles then). However, three users showed great dedication to this wiki, enough to give them adminship (being the first admins besides Darth smith). These users are Nighthawk leader (The most dedicated, he is now the bureaucrat of this wiki, with over 7000 edits!), Bahnpirat (Who is now inactive, but started Brickipedia:Mutiny), and MarioGalaxy2433g5 (a user who recently gave up his adminship powers, and is now inactive).

Vandalism

Even when a wiki is first created, vandalism happens everywhere. Vandalism is the destruction of property, in this case, adding strange pictures, creating strange articles, etc. What may be considered the worst kind of vandalism would be hacking, which was once attempted out of jealousy by a user, who was blocked for life. Even though this wiki has witnessed vandalism, none may worry, for these offenders are blocked or warned to stop.

More admins and users

Of course, more and more users edited this wiki. Two of whom started editing a year ago or less, they are now top admins! These users are Captain Rex and LegOtaku. More users have become dedicated to this wiki, now having many active users at the moment.

We have also had users who are either admins or current users on other wikis. Some of our most dedicated users even come from other wikis, the most common being My LEGO Network wiki.

Age

Unfortunetely, age disputes were going around, and got three users blocked, one very dedicated to this wiki. However, they were blocked until they become 13 years of age. But, all disputes on age are forbidden (Law states you must be 13 years or older to edit on Wikia or Wikipedia). These users, however, will return one day to edit again!

Brickipedia today

Today, Brickipedia is a popular, well known website with users who strive to edit to show off their knowledge for LEGO. We even have articles based on sets from the next year coming!

We also have votes and forums on voting for different things, such as Brickipedian of the Month, Featured Article of the Month, and even userbox proposals, so that you can spice up your userpage to look even better than before! You can also ask for items or pages to be deleted.
