Plot[]

In the Never-Realm's past, a traveler is brought into the future Ice Castle, and offers his services to King Grimfax. He attempts to convince the king that the Formlings plot against him; however, Grimfax quickly recognizes him as Vex, the "Formless". Knowing the Formlings to be peaceful, he has Vex cast out, and the bitter man swears vengeance. Traveling out into the wild, Vex attempts to fend for himself through foraging or theft, but fails miserably at both.

One day, Vex witnesses the results of Aspheera's attack on the Monastery of Spinjitzu, including the arrival of Zane and the Titan Mech. Seeing Zane's power when wielding the Scroll of Forbidden Spinjitzu, Vex follows him as he transports the damaged mech to a cave and drives off a massive bird. He then observes Zane's efforts to repair the mech, before attemptin to steal the scroll for himself. Finding that he cannot access its power, he interferes with Zane's diagnostic of the mech, causing Zane to lose his memories.

Playing the part of Zane's loyal servant, Vex convinces him that he is the Ice Emperor, the deposed rightful ruler of the Never-Realm. Zane thus attacks Grimfax's castle, proving too much for the warriors, whom he transforms into the Blizzard Samurai. Grimfax is forced to yield, and Zane takes his throne and castle for himself. Vex, meanwhile, glories in his position as the true power behind the new monarch.

Notes[]
