When Tony Stark activated the Avengers Protocol to reassemble the Avengers, Sam Wilson responded to the call in the Project Red-wing armor. Taking the identity "The Falcon", Sam Wilson joined the Avengers as a rookie, and was subsequently fired from S.H.I.E.L.D. by Nick Fury.
