LEGO Racers: Reload is a custom video game of Racers and Speed Champions themes. It was created by Shiva.

Gameplay

The player progresses through various levels of Story Mode, based on racing against other racers. Each completed level can be replayed in Free Play mode as other vehicles, available for the player. Story Mode has in total 22 levels: 6 car races, 5 motorbike races, 5 jet races, 5 boats races and «The Big Chase» level which involves all four types of vehicles in one chase.

There are four types of vehicles: cars, motorbikes, jets and boats. In Custom Race or Challenge modes players at first select race class depending on a type of available vehicles, then select a vehicle unlocked for them, proceeding then on a race track. Unlike vehicles, race tracks can be either selectable or buildable in a special Track Editor. Most of selectable tracks are unlocked during a walkthrough of Story Mode, while vehicles are unlocked during Story Mode and after completing challenges. Challenges are provided for every class, as each class has three types of challenges: first two depend on a chosen class and third is Time Trial. Unlike all other modes, Challenge mode has a medal system, where the player acquires either Bronze, Silver or Gold medal depending on how good they completed a single challenge.

There is also a Shop mode in the game which, for the right price, may provide the player with visual and performance upgrades for the vehicles. Money is achieved for beating a single race: money prize depends on the player's place in a race. However, in Story Mode player must achieve the first place in the level race, or level won't be completed.

Plot

Turbo Charger is a race champion, mainly being sponsored by Octan Corporation. Winner of many racing events including GPs and tournaments, twice achieved Rocket Racer Award. He has his own racing crew with the best racers and mechanics in LEGO City and his only second place was in the race against Rocket Racer himself. Whom he was in the past?

Turbo, often called Mr. Charger, was working as a mechanic at gas station. One day, he was working as usual, and his friend Eddie Octan, son of Octan Corporation owner and a racer, came to use the service of that gas station. While friends were talking to each other Turbo suddenly lost his consciousness and was taken to the hospital, where it was revealed, that Charger has a cancer. Caring about his friend's health, Eddie suggested his help by telling Turbo about the City Grand Prix, arranged by his father Professor Octan, and promising to give Charger his money prize after his first successful race. However, Turbo, remembering his father Dodge Charger, who was a retired famous racer and wanted his son to continue his career, teaching him to repair vehicles fast and drive them much faster, refused and told Eddie that he would take part in the Grand Prix and acquire the money himself. Despite his friend's protests, Turbo still convinced Eddie to help him join GP.

Story itself starts, when Turbo and Eddie both come to the office of Octan Corporation. Turbo Charger tries to convince arrangers to allow him to take part in the Grand Prix but is unsuccessful, although Eddie, being a son of Octan CEO, is succesful to do so. Arrangers then tell Charger, that he must build a crew of mechanics and four racers for each racing class: cars, motorcycles, jet planes and boats. One of these racers is Turbo Charger himself, so there are three racers left for him to find. Charger then calls his colleagues and asks them to find well-trained racers for him.

Soon those racers are found and they all meet with Turbo Charger at the training stadium of Dodge Charger. Turbo is introduced to Scooter, Jet Sky and Roger Seaman. Each of them shows his skills in driving each type of vehicle: Scooter is a motorbike driving expert, Jet Sky shows himself as the best jet pilot and Roger Seaman demonstrates his skills of riding a sea jetski. This impresses Turbo, and the new assembled Team Charger starts preparing for the Grand Prix under retired Dodge Charger's training. Turbo's former colleagues agree to be mechanics in his pit crew.

The first race is performed in the same place. Eddie Octan doesn't take part there, in order to let his friend win. Turbo Charger sits in his new race car and drives it to the start line. As the race starts, Charger impresses everyone by being the fastest racer among the others. He wins the race and gets his prize money, which he spends to cure his cancer. After being healed, doctor tells Turbo, that he is not allowed to drive in the Grand Prix for a month, which makes him disappointed, as he decided to continue his racing career since then. However, Scooter cheers him up, telling Turbo Charger, that the next race will be performed on the motorbikes, and Scooter is the motorbike specialist.

After two weeks, the next race is performed on the main highway of LEGO City. Scooter wins the race on his green Highway Cruiser, impressing even Team Octan, a team of Eddie Octan. Turbo Charger's team gets even bigger money prize, and, this time, Turbo equally divides it between all his crew members. Team Charger is also told, that the next race will be performed in the sky, so Jet Sky trains hard until the date of the race.

Two weeks pass again, and the next race begins in the City Airport. Jet Sky impresses everyone by winning the race on the small military supersonic jet and gets the prize money. Meanwhile, Professor Octan, CEO of Octan Corporation and main sponsor of Team Octan, becomes angry to see his team losing, as he wants his son to be the winner. He decides to cheat and sends his two agents to reveal secrets of Turbo Charger's success.

Turbo realizes, that the month has passed and he is able to drive again. However, he decides to let Roger Seaman to take part in the next race, which will be performed in the river. Roger shows his jetski to Turbo, while agents hired by Octan are secretly watching them. At first, Turbo tells Roger, that using jetski will be useless, however Seaman explains, that smaller the boat, faster its movement. Agents note that and tell their boss about it. Octan then decides to build something like jetski but even more powerful. Looking at cars with double engines, he gets an idea in his mind.

In the City Port, after another two weeks, race on the boats starts. Roger wins the race, hardly overtaking two members of Octan Team on a double-engined speedboat. This makes Professor Octan very angry and he decides to go into Charger's house and ask him to leave the Grand Prix, however his son Eddie convinces him not to do so. Time passes, and Team Charger continues winning GP races on each type of vehicle, becoming very famous everywhere.

One day, before the final race, Professor Octan does what he wanted to do earlier: he comes into the house of Turbo Charger and asks him to leave the Grand Prix, offering the same money prize as the winner of the Grand Prix gets in the end. Charger refuses, telling Octan, that he is going to continue his father's career. Professor then reveals, that he has been cheating all along to let his son win, because the winner of the Grand Prix becomes the face of Octan Corporation. Before the Grand Prix he wanted his son to be the face of his corporation, however PR managers never agreed with him, so he arranged GP, where the winner becomes a face of the corporation. Octan also tells, that he knows, that at the beginning Turbo Charger was racing illegally, as he had cancer. He shows a folder of papers with all his plans on Charger and escapes with it on his fast Lamborghini.

Turbo Charger sits in his racing car and informs other members of his team about Professor Octan cheating and escaping unpunished. He then chases Octan and even overtakes his car to block his way. However, police cars block Charger's way on the highway and he goes out of his car. Turbo quickly explains everything about Professor Octan to police and they all attempt to block his way, however they see him escaping on another road of the highway. Turbo Charger and police still chase Octan's Lamborghini, however their ways are soon separated. Racer loses his hopes, however behind Octan's car Scooter on his bike appears. He chases professor to the airport, where Octan boards his private jet and flies away. Jet Sky on his fast jet suddenly appears and chases Octan, until professor's private jet accidentally breaks apart and starts falling down. Professor Octan jumps out of the plane on his own jetski and escapes away. Roger Seaman on his jetski continues chasing him and, in one moment, he punches professor to make him fall off into the water, although he doesn't fall and, instead, escapes away, leaving Roger alone in the sea. Police helicopter appears above him and Turbo Charger with officer Chase McCain show up there. Roger shows, that he has taken a folder from Professor Octan, and Chase takes it. Helicopter and jetski head back to the city.

Next day, the final race is performed and five districts of the city serve as one race track. There are many traps on the track: Professor Octan placed them to stop Turbo Charger and let his son win. However, instead of Charger, other racers get into those traps and it causes serious car accidents. On the last lap there are only Turbo Charger and Eddie Octan left. Before the finish line a giant bulldozer appears there, which lets only one car pass. Charger goes first, however Eddie suddenly overtakes him yelling «I haven't saved your life yet, buddy!» As it turns out, he risks his life to save his friend Turbo Charger and gets into the hand of that bulldozer, letting Charger proceed further. Turbo Charger wins the race, as well as the whole Grand Prix. However, he is shocked, because of traps and wounded racers, including his friend. Professor Octan shows up to make a fake congratulation to Turbo Charger, however a police squad, led by officer McCain, appears and arrests Professor Octan for cheating, lying to everyone and for wounding several racers, including even his own son. They make him pay the winner money prize to Turbo Charger and then transport him to the police department.

Turbo Charger and his team are awarded with the Grand Prix Cup. Team becomes very famous in the whole world and Turbo Charger becomes the face of Octan Corporation, as its CEO becomes his injured friend Eddie Octan. Years pass, and Turbo Charger becomes the most famous race champion in the world as well as his Team Charger.

Scooter	Part of Team Charger, a motorcycle specialist. Young biker, who is also not bad at driving cars, which he proves at the tournament of Rocket Racer.
Jet Sky	Part of Team Charger, a plane specialist. Before he got recruited into Turbo's team, Jet was a plane stuntsman and a fire plane pilot. He was called an ace among his colleagues at both jobs due to his extreme piloting skills.
Roger Seaman	Part of Team Charger, a boat specialist. He was a sailor in the past, before becoming a lifeguard at the City Beach, where he mastered riding a jetski. Because of his amazing skills, he was recruited in a team of Turbo Charger.
Eddie Octan	Car driver of Team Octan. He is a son of Professor Octan, CEO of Octan and an organizer of the tournament. Eddie is also Turbo's best friend, who helped him join a tournament and build a racing crew.

Alex Boost	Car driver of Team S. Known for his high driving skills and great passion for races, he has always been a respectable member of Team S, one of the best known racing teams in LEGO City.
Little Nick	Part of Team S, a motorcycle specialist. Youngest member of his team, champion of many motorbike racing events organized inside LEGO City and outside.
Mark Twilight	Part of Team S, a plane specialist. Ace pilot and an inspiration for young beginner pilots. Often leads airshows on most festivals and celebrations in LEGO City.
Shine Sparkle	Part of Team S, a boat specialist. Shine is always optimistic and a good speedboat racer, that's probably all you need to know about him.
LEX-treme	Car driver of Team X-Treme. He is usually disliked among his fellow team members for his egoistic behavior. Despite this, he is still a good driver.
MAX-treme	Part of Team X-Treme, a motorcycle specialist. He is literally obsessed with extreme racing, being an expert in all kinds of vehicles. Rumor has it, that he is even able to do stunts driving a heavy firetruck.
REX-treme	Part of Team X-Treme, a plane specialist. Highly professional pilot, who has a passion for air stunts.
DEX-treme	Part of Team X-Treme, a boat specialist. Former criminal, who once geniously stole a speedboat right from its shop by driving it out of a shop, despite mostly he had to drive it on land. When he was arrested, a manager of Team X-Treme convinced police department to release DEX-treme, so he could join his team and participate in racing tournaments.
Max Axel	Car driver of Team Drome. Former apprentice of the legendary Rocket Racer, champion of Drome Racers tournament, Max participates in his last racing tournament before finally going to his retirement.
Daredevil Tom	Part of Team Drome, a motorcycle specialist. Formerly monster truck driver and a part of legendary Extreme Team, who along with his former teammates agreed with Max Axel to form Team Drome and participate in their last racing tournament before finally retiring.
Jimmy Brave	Part of Team Drome, a plane specialist. Formerly pilot stuntman and a part of legendary Extreme Team, who along with his former teammates agreed with Max Axel to form Team Drome and participate in their last racing tournament before finally retiring.
Fearless McCoy	Part of Team Drome, a boat specialist. Formerly speedboat racer and a part of legendary Extreme Team, who along with his former teammates agreed with Max Axel to form Team Drome and participate in their last racing tournament before finally retiring.
Dodge Charger	Turbo's father, currently retired racer. Dodge trains his son to become a racer in the beginning of Story Mode and also leads a crew of mechanics for Team Charger. He provides the player with Practice Mode and challenges in Cars category.
Biker Bob	Bob is an old friend of Scooter. He provides the player with challenges in Motorbikes category.
Daredevil Dan	Dan is a stuntman pilot, who is an old friend of Jet Sky. He provides the player with challenges in Jets category.
Sharon	Roger's girlfriend and his former lifeguard colleague. She provides the player with challenges in Boats category.
Professor Octan	Main antagonist of the game. Professor is CEO of Octan Corporation, who organized the racing tournament in order to cheat there, thus letting his son Eddie win it. Eddie, however, didn't want to win dishonestly, preferring to participate in races with more honest way, but was still convinced to take part in the tournament by his father.

Rocket Racer is the DLC Vehicles and Level Pack for LEGO Racers: Reload. Pack contains 4 new vehicles, as well as 4 new racing tracks and one new level which involves those new vehicles and tracks in one story. It was created by Shiva too.

Plot

Turbo Charger may have been the winner of all races he ever participated in, however it was Rocket Racer and his crew who were only able to win the race against Team Charger. When The Star Speedway was built in LEGO City as a tribute to Rocket Racer, his crew suggested him to be the first to race there. Rocket then challenged Turbo Charger as the most influental race champion of LEGO City to race on The Star Speedway. Rocket Racer and his crew then won that race, although Rocket Racer admitted that Team Charger proved to be quite a challenge for him, as well as Turbo Charger admitted that his first and only loss was an honorable one.

Rocket Racer	Despite being too old, Rocket Racer still somehow manages to look young and stays energetic as he has always been. His former proteges like Max Axel may be already retired racers, but Rocket Racer himself never retires and is always ready to race with someone else.
Moto Racer	Rocket's younger brother who mysteriously looks older than his brother. Moto is a biker and has been a motorcycle expert for Rocket Racer's crew for quite a long time.
Harry Cane	Legendary pilot ace, who has been flying for Johnny Thunder and his gang of Adventurers since his youth. Along with that, he is also a plane expert in a racing crew of Rocket Racer.
Captain Ace Speedman	Captain Speedman is most commonly known as a brave submarine pilot who once led an Atlantis expedition, however he also has a hobby of riding a racing yacht. This hobby, as well as his talents, led him into joining Rocket Racer's racing crew as a boat expert back in his youth, and since then he has never left his crew because "a good captain never abandons his vessel".

Notes

• Though the game is based on System Racers, some vehicles of TECHNIC Racers were used too.
• Professor Octan appears as an opponent in one level only, however his car is still unlockable. He also looks very similar to President Business.
