|LEGO Racers: Reload|
Single Player, Multiplayer
PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4
The player progresses through various levels of Story Mode, based on racing against other racers. Each completed level can be replayed in Free Play mode using cars, available for the player. Levels are scattered around World City, which returns from LEGO World City: Video Game as the game's main hub. Player can freely roam through the streets of the familiar city, with an opportunity of accepting various side missions or returning to their garage, where the player can buy a new car or upgrade an already bought one for money earned from races.
There are different challenges available to accept. Beginning from simple lap circuits and sprint races, player can also accept various challenges like drag races, drift challenges, police evasions. The player can also accept police missions with an opportunity of driving a cop car and catching street racers.
LEGO Racers: Street Showdown bears many differences from previous Racers game. If Racers: Reload had a setting of a sports events and didn't have an open world, Street Showdown is set in the world of illegal street racing, where there is a big possibility to get into police ambush during a race, which then turns into a chase, where the player has to evade police without stopping their current race. If police still manages to catch the player, they will be arrested and the race will stop. Also, while Reload had different kinds of vehicles to drive and different racers to play as, in Street Showdown the player can only drive cars and play as two characters: Ryan Rhoads, the street racer, and Jack Nitro, the police officer.
The game's storyline begins right after LEGO World City Video Game's ending.
A new person, a young man named Ryan Rhoads, arrives into World City in their small but obviously customized for racing car. As soon as he drives through the city, he finds some street racers ready to race through the streets of World City. Ryan immediately joins them and once he comes first, all other racers, impressed with Ryan's skills, offer him a place in the Midnight Club, one of the biggest societies of World City street racers. Ryan, proud of himself, agrees to their offer.
|Ryan Rhoads||Fast as star, Ryan always dreamed to become a racer. Being new to World City, he finally accomplishes his long dream by joining Midnight Club, an illegal club of street racers, and proceeding through its list of fame, climbing up its ranks to the top.|
|Officer Jack Nitro||Officer Nitro is a former street racer, who turned into the law after being arrested. He has a super-fast highly upgraded police car, which, along with his amazing driving skills, helps him catching street racers. Jack's prime target is Midnight Club, as he wants to catch #1 in its list of fame: that mysterious #1 is somehow connected with various car stealing throughout World City and with a disappearing of a police officer.|
|Kira||Kira is one of the racers from Midnight Club. Although she is a skillful driver, she is not ranked in the list of fame, unlike her brother DJ Web. Throughout the storyline, Kira serves as a guide to the player, later becoming Ryan's girlfriend.|
|DJ Web||Web is #10 in the list of fame. Ryan beats him in the race during the second mission and takes his place in the list, thus removing Web from there at all. However, instead of being rivals after that, they instead became best friends with Web giving Ryan several useful hints and tips. Also DJ Web serves as the main dj for Midnight Club racers, providing them with different songs for racers. Because of that, player can buy various songs from game's soundtrack to play during races. Kira is Web's sister.|
|Alex Boost||Returning from Racers: Reload, where Alex and his Team S lost to Turbo Charger and Team Charger, he decided to leave legal autosport at all and become a street racer in World City. Boost is #9 in the list of fame and proves to be pretty aggressive driver. After he is beaten in a race and Ryan takes his place, Alex can be met later in other races appearing as a simple rival racer.|
|Junior||It is unknown, how he still manages to stay #8 in the list of fame. Junior proves to be an unexperienced driver being not too skillful and courageous for driving. Once Ryan takes his place, Junior gets arrested by officer Nitro a bit later in the game.|
|Bad Brad||Brad, often called Bad Brad in Midnight Club, is #7 in the list. He spends his time either racing or playing street basketball with his friends, considering this a lifestyle he has always dreamed of. Brad appears to be a very kind person, becoming Ryan's good friend after his loss to him, however officer Nitro arrests him later in the plot.|
|Helena||While looking like a lady who barely knows how to drive, Helena actually appears to be a pretty experienced street racer and #6 in the list of fame. Besides being a good driver, her secret of winning is also in fooling her rivals with her "sweet looks" towards them. This, however, doesn't work on Ryan, who soon beats her in a race and takes her place in the list.|
|Ed||#5 in the list of fame, a bodybuilder obsessed with money. He once was presenting Midnight Club during a race against a racer from the rival club called Night Shift, where he lost and grabbed Midnight Club into huge debt to Night Shift.|
|Nick||Nick is a professional highly skilled driver, formerly working in taxi and being fired because of scaring clients away due to delivering them way too fast. Just like Ryan, he climbs his way to the top of the list in a fast manner, currently being #4.|
|Cam||Cam is crazy and a very aggressive driver. Being #3 in the list of fame, she attempts to beat her way straight to the top and be the ultimate winner. Her main goal is to win everywhere she competes in.|
|Bill||Bill was once a street thug later becoming a getaway driver for hire. Because of that, he surely knows how to handle a car in a police chase and how to behave under pressure. Before being challenged by the player, he tasks Ryan with proving him that Ryan can also perfectly evade the police as well.|
|Vinnie Pappalardo||Expanding his business to World City, in both legal and illegal ways, Pappalardo decides to organize an illegal street racing business by building Night Shift, main rival street racing club of Midnight Club. During one competitive race between Midnight Club and Night Shift, high stakes were placed on Ed, who was representing Midnight CLub, however he lost to a racer from Night Shift. That is why Midnight Club owes a big sum of money to Pappalardo and his club. At one point of the story, Vinnie hires Ryan to do some jobs for him connected with racing, so he may reduce a debt owed to him from Midnight Club.|
|Rex McLaren||Mysterious person, being #1 in the list of fame in Midnight Club. No one in a club does know about him something else but his name. Officer Nitro has been searching for him for quite long time, arresting other racers from Midnight Club to catch Rex.|
