|LEGO Racers: Street Showdown|
Single Player, Multiplayer
PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4
The player progresses through various levels of Story Mode, based on racing against other racers. Each completed level can be replayed in Free Play mode using cars, available for the player. Levels are scattered around World City, which returns from LEGO World City: Video Game as the game's main hub. Player can freely roam through the streets of the familiar city, with an opportunity of accepting various side missions or returning to their garage, where the player can buy a new car or upgrade an already bought one for money earned from races.
There are different challenges available to accept. Beginning from simple lap circuits and sprint races, player can also accept various challenges like drag races, drift challenges, police evasions. The player can also accept police missions with an opportunity of driving a cop car and catching street racers.
LEGO Racers: Street Showdown bears many differences from previous Racers game. If Racers: Reload had a setting of a sports events and didn't have an open world, Street Showdown is set in the world of illegal street racing, where there is a big possibility to get into police ambush during a race, which then turns into a chase, where the player has to evade police without stopping their current race. If police still manages to catch the player, they will be arrested and the race will stop. Also, while Reload had different kinds of vehicles to drive and different racers to play as, in Street Showdown the player can only drive cars and play as two characters: Ryan Rhoads, the street racer, and Jack Nitro, the police officer.
The game's storyline begins right after LEGO World City Video Game's ending.
A new person, a young man named Ryan Rhoads, arrives into World City in their small but obviously customized for racing car. He remembers his past of studying extreme driving and afterwards being hired by a businessman Vinnie Pappalardo to present him in a race in World City. That race, though, turned out to be an illegal street race with a driver from a notorious street racing club. Vinnie, who owns a rival club, wants Ryan to beat that driver in a race, so he could earn a lot of money from stakes placed on that driver. After successfully winning the race, Vinnie pays Ryan a big sum of money and tells him that if he wants to race on streets more, he should come back to World City and join one of the street racing clubs in there.
Flashback of Ryan's past ends, and he finally finds some street racers ready to race through the streets of World City. Ryan immediately joins them and once he comes first, all other racers, impressed with Ryan's skills, offer him a place in the Midnight Club, one of the biggest societies of World City street racers. Ryan, proud of himself, agrees to their offer.
In the clubhouse of Midnight Club, which looks like an abandoned building formerly used as a warehouse, Ryan meets Kira, a girl who introduces everything about Midnight Club to him. She shows him a wall with the list of club's fame where ten best racers of the club are shown in order from the worst of the best to the best of the best. #1 in this list is considered a de facto leader of Midnight Club, however current #1 is a pretty shady and mysterious person, who rarely speaks to anyone of the club, especially to those who aren't listed in the list of fame. Kira tells Ryan that if he wants to appear in this, he should challenge or be challenged by a racer, who is #10 on this list, and in order to progress through this list, he should challenge all of its drivers in a direct order from #10 to #1. After such explanation, Kira invites Ryan to compete in a friendly race with her and two other racers of the clubhouse. Ryan wins and thus interests DJ Web, #10 of the list of fame. Web is the main DJ of the clubhouse and is also coincidentally Kira's brother, so he is interested in Ryan's driving skills and challenges him for a head-to-head race. Ryan, hoping to appear in the list of fame after that race, accepts the challenge and, despite having to avoid police chase after their race, his name does indeed appear on that list. Although DJ Web is a bit disappointed to remove his name from the list at all, he befriends Ryan afterwards and tells him he can use his racing bus in races whenever he wants to. Web explains him that Midnight Club has such tradition: any racer of the list of fame is permitted to drive cars of any other racer from this list beaten by them in a race, even if that racer isn't on the list anymore.
Afterwards, DJ Web arranges an evening party in the clubhouse, for greeting the new driver in the list of fame. Almost every member of Midnight Club attends it, so Ryan meets all other racers of the list in there. One of them, Ed, tells him that Midnight Club is dragged into the huge debt to the rival street racing club, Night Shift. Some time prior to the current events, Ed was challenged by that club's drivers, so he raced one of them and lost, despite the fact that higher stakes were placed on him rather on that driver, however Midnight Club couldn't afford such a sum to pay Night Shift, that's why they're in a debt right now. Ryan remembers his past again and asks Ed about the owner of Night Shift, and Ed tells that owner of that club is a mobster going by the name of Vinnie Pappalardo. These words confirm Ryan's suspicions and he realizes he was the one to drag Midnight Club into that debt, but he keeps quiet about it and instead continues to enjoy the party.
Meanwhile, at the World City Police Department HQ, officer Jack Nitro from the previous game stays up late in his office, despite his shift already ending. Nitro is still an expert in catching street racers, however his main goal is to catch mysterious #1 of Midnight Club's list of fame. He knows that this person is somehow connected to disapperance of another WCPD officer, who also was prominent in arresting various street racers, being somewhat a mentor to officer Jack. Nitro remembers his youth when he was one of the street racers himself but got caught by that officer who arrested him, but afterwards spared his freedom in exchange for a promise to quit street racing and go to college, so Jack went to World City Police Academy and became a police officer himself under that officer's mentorship. His thoughts about his past, though, are interrupted by one of Jack's colleagues, who reminds Nitro that he should go home. Once Jack comes out of the HQ, he immediately catches a signal about some illegal street racing, so he sits in his superfast police car and goes on to catch all of the criminals. Once he does catch all three drivers, he drives them to the WCPD HQ and asks them if anyone of them knows something of Midnight Club, however unfortunately, these racers know nothing about any illegal street racing society, they were just having fun.
Next day, back at the clubhouse, Ryan Rhoads contacts Vinnie Pappalardo. Vinnie, recognizing Ryan, tells that he wanted Rhoads to join the Night Shift instead of Midnight Club, however since he already made his choice, Vinnie won't bother him about changing it. Ryan, though, offers some of his cars to, at least, reduce Midnight Club's debt to him. Pappalardo, impressed by such offer, still refuses and, instead, offers to do some work regarding driving for him. Depending on how well Rhoads does his job, Vinnie will reduce a certain amount of money owed to him. Ryan agrees to that offer and asks if he has to do something already, however Vinnie Pappalardo tells him that there's nothing he can do right now but asks him to stay in touch. Later on that day, Ryan meets #9 of club's list of fame, Alex Boost. Boost explains Ryan that in order to be challenged or be accepted in a challenge with a member of list of fame, one must impress them at first. Alex, being a former motorsports racer, remembers his career in Team S before losing to Turbo Charger and thus quitting motorsports at all, so in order to impress him, Ryan should compete in several races and also show Alex how well he does car tricks like drifting, making road donuts or doing 360° spin. After completing some of Boost's challenges, Ryan is challenged one more time by Alex, but this time in a race between the two, where Rhoads wins and is placed #9 in the list of fame. Some days later, he does so with Junior, #8 of the list, who provides Ryan with some of the police evasion challenges as well as usual races. Once Rhoads challenges him, however, Junior still refuses to accept his challenge due to him being scared to lose his position: Junior already has the lowest reputation among his fellow club members and it's unknown how does he manage to still remain in the list of fame. These fellow club members, however, remind him that his behavior is against rules of Midnight Club, so he accepts Ryan's challenge and obviously loses to him, making Rhoads #8 in the list.
Back at the WCPD HQ, officer Jack Nitro continues to do his investigations on Midnight Club. He soon receives a signal about two street racers driving through the city center. On his superfast police car, he quickly arrives at the possible crime scene, however he sees only one driver, a frustrated Junior, who has just lost to Ryan Rhoads, but still chases him. Despite Junior being pretty fast, Nitro still catches him and delivers him to the HQ. There officer interrogates Junior, who tells Jack about Ryan Rhoads. Officer Nitro thinks about it and he gets an idea.
Meanwhile, back at the clubhouse, Kira informs Ryan that after the race Junior was arrested by officer Jack Nitro, a person, who is a somewhat archenemy to Midnight Club. Once Rhoads asks about Nitro, Kira tells that due to his experience from street racing in the past, Jack is almost unavoidable when it comes to him catching street racers in a police chase, so one should be aware of him. At night, Ryan keeps thinking about officer Nitro and his thoughts are only interrupted by a phone call from Vinnie Pappalardo, who tells Rhoads to meet him by the clubhouse of Night Shift, as he finally has some work for him. Upon meeting Pappalardo personally, Ryan receives a difficult task in causing the chaos on the territory of Vinnie's enemies. Pappalardo explains that a rival gang is causing much trouble to him, so he wants Rhoads to cause a mess at least in a warehouse belonging to that gang. Ryan gets into the green Road Hero truck provided to him by Night Shift members and in that truck he smashes the gates of the aforementioned warehouse and after that keeps smashing things including crates, shelves, tools and anything else in the same truck. After causing such mess in the warehouse, Ryan quickly drives out and, avoiding the chase from police and from rival gang cars, loses the heat and dumps the truck at the car dump to destroy the evidence. He then phones Vinnie, who says that he has more jobs for Rhoads to do and thus asks him to stay in touch.
In the morning, Ryan meets up with Bad Brad, #7 of the list of fame. Despite being the kindest of all drivers in the list, Brad at first behaves a little angry towards Rhoads, as he says he has seen him at night coming inside the clubhouse of Night Shift and now suspects him in betrayal. However, Ryan calms him down by saying that he has contacts in Night Shift which may help him and Midnight Club reduce their debt to Vinnie Pappalardo. Brad then provides Rhoads with several challenges, and once Ryan beats these, Brad invites him to a friendly play of street basketball. During the game, Brad tells Ryan about his lifestyle, occasionally either playing basketball or street racing, and how he considers this a lifestyle he always wanted to live, simple but sometimes a bit dangerous. Ryan then tells Brad that he, on the other hand, always dreamed to become a racing driver, so he spent most of his life studying the extreme driving, however he never got any chance to become an official race car driver, instead becoming a street racer. Seeing that Brad is trustworthy, Rhoads also tells him that it was him winning over Ed and dragging Midnight Club in a debt back before this, that's why he decided to reduce the debt to Night Shift. Brad, however, praises Ryan for trying to redeem himself and says that anyone else in the club would praise that as well, except for Ed, who still remembers a number on the license plate of that driver and blames that driver for him losing his reputation in Midnight Club after that race. Ryan responds, that he isn't going to tell anyone yet, even to DJ Web, who is his best friend, or to Kira, whom he likes romantically. After such conversation, Bad Brad finally challenges Ryan to compete in a street race, which results in Ryan winning over Brad and becoming #7 in the list of fame.
Later on, Rhoads is called by Vinnie Pappalardo once again, as the latter has some other jobs for him to do. First task for him is to act as a getaway driver for Vinnie's people who are going to rob a bank same night. In attempt to impress #6 of the list of fame, a woman named Helena, Ryan remembers that one of her challenges was to show her "how well a man handles himself evading the police", so he tells her to look how is he going to act as a getaway driver. Helena doesn't believe him at first, yet she still decides to have a look at him completing a task for Pappalardo and, to her surprise, she sees Rhoads doing it pretty well. Ryan decides to use one more task from Vinnie to impress Helena. Vinnie wants to employ Ryan as an ice cream delivery man, so he gives him a box full of ice cream and directions to deliver this to the customers. However, Rhoads not only completes his deliveries in time, but he also uses his directions as city sprint circuits, so that way he still manages to impress Helena, who challenges Ryan in a race and loses to him, making Ryan #6 in the list of fame, despite Helena trying to fool Ryan charming him with her "sweet looks". Meanwhile, officer Jack Nitro, who has been tracking this race down all along, watches as Ryan wins again and thinks about catching him. He knows that it is going to be hard due to Rhoads being very skillful driver, so he has his look at his friends from Midnight Club congratulating Ryan after the race, as they could be used as a trap for a racer. He notices Kira, DJ Web and Bad Brad, however he also notes that he can't use Kira as she is rarely seen without Ryan, as well as DJ Web who is nowadays rarely seen outside the clubhouse. Nitro has a closer look at Bad Brad and begins reading reports about him.
Meanwhile, Ryan still keeps progressing through the list of fame in Midnight Club. He finally talks to Ed, #5 of the list. Ed is a bodybuilder and is almost obsessed with money, especially in the way of gambling. He invites Ryan to the Monster Truck arena and tells him it's going to be Rhoads' first challenge if he wants to race with Ed. Ed likes to earn money from bets on the arena, as well as from participating in there. Monster Truck arena is located at the car dump, where monster trucks compete in smashing nearly destroyed cars and afterwards smashing each other. At the arena itself Ryan gets a Red Bull monster truck and is tasked to fight with other trucks, including Ed in his Flaming Tow truck (who still placed his bet on Ryan), at first, however once Ryan wins, one more monster truck smashes into the arena. However, this particular one is a police monster truck which chases escaping Rhoads throughout the whole city in an attempt to actually arrest him, as well as anyone else who has been competing at that moment. Ryan successfully manages to escape from police monster truck, however, and Ed is still pleased with his work, despite it going a little wrong. After some more, this time simpler, challenges, Ed agrees to race with Rhoads and loses to him as well, just like all other racers before in the list, leaving his #5 in the list of fame to Ryan.
Some days after this, officer Jack Nitro finally makes up his plan and is ready to go fulfill it. He visits a street basketball field where Bad Brad usually hangs out with his friends. While he doesn't see Rhoads, he engages in a conversation with Bad Brad, who politely tries to avoid the conversation, yet Nitro still keeps it up and even accuses Brad of being a suspect in illegal street racing. After hearing this, Brad runs away from officer Jack, who chases him to his car. Brad, though, successfully gets in his car and quickly drives away, however Nitro appears behind him in his own car and chases him down until he is successful in catching and arresting Bad Brad. Once Brad is arrested, Kira is first to find out about this and tells Ryan about it, who becomes very angry about this. Rhoads decides to attract attention of officer Nitro by driving dangerously through streets. Despite protests of some his fellow club members, he still does so, attracting too much attention from police and even local news. He is called on phone by several people, including Kira, DJ Web and even Vinnie Pappalardo, however furious Rhoads is unstoppable: his goal is to attract attention of officer Jack Nitro. Officer himself, meanwhile, is a bit surprised, as he wanted Ryan to be demoralized and thus become easier to catch during his next race. Still, Nitro gets in his superfast police car and goes down chasing the street racer. He gets to Ryan pretty fast, however racer goes faster, trying to trap Nitro in a car dump, where his car would be destroyed by monster trucks, so officer would be left without his superfast vehicle and thus become a less problem for other street racers. Officer Jack, on the other hand, senses a trap in Rhoads' actions, so he decides to make another turn, so Ryan would think officer stopped chasing him. This indeed happens, however in reality, Jack orders some of his colleagues to make a roadblock right nearby an alley, where he and some of his other colleagues could trap Ryan. This does happen as well, and local news finally report that "an illegal street racer is finally trapped in an alleyway and is about to be arrested", much to the dismay of Ryan's fellow club members, especially DJ Web and Kira.
In reality, though, officer Nitro doesn't arrest Ryan. He, instead, tells Rhoads, that he wanted to meet him all along, so he could offer Ryan a job considering #1 racer in the list of fame of Midnight Club. Jack, at first, tells his colleagues to leave Rhoads to him, so they could talk privately, as Nitro doesn't want his colleagues to know he's using a street racer to arrest another street racer. Officer explains Ryan that he knows nothing of #1 driver from that list, except that he is connected to various car thefts and disappearance of his fellow police officer, so he offers Ryan to help him in catching that mysterious driver from the inside in exchange to something that Rhoads would like to get. Racer agrees to that and splits up with Nitro, coming back to the clubhouse and surprising his fellow Midnight Club members. Ryan lies to them telling that he escaped from officer Nitro, and Nick, #4 of the list of fame, tells Ryan he is the only one to escape successfully from Nitro and that he is already impressed enough to race with Rhoads. Kira, on the other hand, still judges Ryan's actions, telling him that she was worried and expressing her feelings in front of all other club members, to which Ryan replies almost the same. They both share a hug and then Ryan asks everyone else in the club, why do they judge him if they are annoyed by officer Jack as well. Racers explain that despite even having challenges considering police evasions, they do this only because they play with them, as they actually don't like being chased all the time, preferring just to have some fun driving and racing. Ryan offers to find a place which Midnight Club could use as a racing track and not even attract police attention, as he knows there must be some places like that somewhere nearby. Racers seem to agree with that suggestion, however a driver named Rex, who is a #1 of the list of fame and a de facto leader of Midnight Club, angrily tells Rhoads, that this is not the way of a real street racer, so he should keep his suggestions to himself if he doesn't like something about Midnight Club, as well as all other racers should go back to their duties and end that conversation. Ryan finally meets with Rex for the first time, who tells him that he is impressed with Ryan's escape from officer Nitro, however he still has no leadership rights over the club, as Rex is #1 in the list of fame, not Ryan. Rhoads only answers to him, that they will both see about that eventually.
A bit later, Ryan wins a race with Nick and becomes #4 in the list. He eventually does several challenges provided by Cam, a girl who is #3 in the list, as well as some jobs for Vinnie Pappalardo and officer Nitro. While Pappalardo tasks Rhoads with taxi driving, ice cream delivery or getaway driving, Jack, on the other hand, makes him lure some amateur street racers into places where officer could arrest them or sometimes himself trusts Ryan his superfast police car, so he could experience being a police officer himself. Finally, Ryan progresses through the list once again, becoming #3 after a race with Cam, who ironically wanted to challenge Rhoads only in order to prove Bill, #2 of the list, that she could beat Rhoads with ease. Bill, seeing this, tells Ryan, that despite him agreeing with his suggestion on finding a race track for Midnight Club, he still will be impressed only if Ryan shows him, how well does he handle himself in a police chase, as in his past Bill was a crook and later a getaway driver. Overhearing their conversation, Rex invites Ryan into his office and tells him that he has a job for Rhoads as well. Rex tells that soon there will be a debut race of Speed Champions GP happening on the racetrack of World City, so he would like Ryan to steal a car of its current champion, Jason Dylan. Jason and his crew are about to present their car, McLaren P1, and Rex wants this car as he doesn't like Dylan as a driver saying he is "annoying, just like you, Rhoads", and also because McLaren car brand shares its name with Rex's last name. Ryan finally realizes that Rex's full name is Rex McLaren, after finishing that conversation, meets up with officer Nitro in a doughnut shop, to tell him the information. Officer Nitro is surprised and a bit shocked to find out Rex's full name, because that is a full name of a disappeared police officer Jack is still trying to find. They both think on what should they do with this, and Jack tells Rhoads to do that job, despite Ryan never actually stealing cars before, especially from notorious racers. Officer Nitro calls him down by saying that he will cover Rhoads during the job.
Some time later, Ryan sneaks up inside the stadium, right during the car presentation. Teams present their cars in showrooms, while Rhoads sneaks inside the showroom of Team McLaren, which Jason Dylan is a driver of. Once guests walk inside the showroom, with Jason and his crew chief Bernie presenting their car, Ryan finally launches McLaren P1 and drives out of the showroom smashing its window, right in front of everyone else in the showroom. Rhoads drives through the racetrack and then escapes from the stadium, furthermore driving away from police coming right after stolen P1. Ryan goes through the various obstacles, evades the police and still brings McLaren P1 right to Rex McLaren in one piece. Rex is glad to have it and pays Rhoads for such possession, while Bill, who also sees this, tells Ryan he is almost impressed. Once Ryan eventually completes few getaway jobs for Pappalardo, though, Bill finally agrees to race with him and make him #2 in the list of fame, resulting in Rhoads winning this race.
After becoming #2 in the list of fame, Ryan once again speaks to officer Nitro, who tells him, that these jobs with luring and catching Jack provided to him were done as a practice for Ryan in order to do the same with Rex McLaren, who occasionally keeps mocking Rhoads, besides him obviously being a better driver than McLaren. Nitro is surprised that McLaren's behavior has changed a lot as he never used to behave like that before, so he orders Rhoads to find out what made him change. One night Ryan notices Rex coming out of his office and going somewhere. Racer decides to sneak inside the office and to investigate it. He looks into Rex's laptop and finds several e-mails sent to and from a mysterious "officer Teal". There Rhoads finds out that before becoming #1 in the list of fame of Midnight Club, McLaren joined it while going undercover, however eventually he became obsessed with sports cars and racing, as well as found out that a more profitable way to earn money from arrests would be a way of being secretly a bounty hunter: Rex didn't want anyone else from Midnight Club to race on a separate racing track instead of streets, because he wanted police making notes of the most notorious street racers and then he could give them away to his contact, officer Teal, so he and his colleagues could arrest these racers and pay McLaren for information. Right now Rex is gathering his bounty money from capturing another racer, so Ryan, remembering that, sneaks outside the office and accidentally stumbles upon Ed, who has been awake all the time and who has seen Rhoads sneaking inside McLaren's office. Ryan tells that Rex has been acting a bit suspicious lately, so Ryan has been only making sure if he is right. Once Ed walks away, though, he notices one of Ryan's car parked in the clubhouse and notes the license plate, remembering that plate from his race with a racer from Night Shift. He realizes Ryan has been that driver all along and furiously walks away, thinking of his revenge plan. Rhoads, meanwhile, reports his evidence to officer Nitro, especially noting McLaren's last e-mail to Teal, about capturing Rhoads himself during their race with Rex whenever one of them challenges another.
Few minutes later Ryan is called by Vinnie Pappalardo, who tells him he has one last job for him. Racer heads over to the Night Shift clubhouse and receives a task from Vinnie: one last time act as a getaway driver. However, once Ryan appears at the said place, he witnesses a member of the bank heist crew betraying his comrades to the police and escaping alone in his small yet fast car. Rhoads chases him down through the city and traitor smashes into the closed city mall. While they drive through the mall and cause some small damage in there, they proceed into the parking lot somehow, where a traitor finds a spot to jump from the lot right on another small roof. Ryan still keeps chasing him through these roofs, until traitor jumps down from the smallest roof and his car breaks down because of it. Ryan's car, though, doesn't break down, as his car is a better quality than traitor's one, so he catches up with a traitor and repossesses the stolen money, successfully delivering it afterwards to Pappalardo. Vinnie, much impressed with such skill, reduces Midnight Club's debt to him by 75%, saying that Ryan has done to him a lot. Delighted Rhoads returns to the clubhouse by the morning and finds out that club members are gathering together because of something. Turns out, Nick has found out that there is a big abandoned airfield which could be used as a racetrack for Midnight Club, just as Ryan has suggested before. Ryan tells that he has also brought some good news and tells about the reduced debt. DJ Web says, that such price is even much less than the club can afford, so club members gather at the safe which has been used as a storage for already collected money to repay the debt, only to find it empty but with a note from Ed. Turns out, Ed has stolen all these money, escaping somewhere else in his car, as he refuses to be in the club along with a person who has betrayed it. Ryan explains himself that back before this all it was him who was hired by Night Shift to win over Ed and drag Midnight Club into such debt, however him reducing that debt by 75% was to show his loyalty to Midnight Club. Everyone in the club understands that, however nobody still knows what to do about it. Rhoads decides to call Vinnie and report about the situation, also noting that Ed is now carrying the owed money somewhere else. Pappalardo thanks him for sharing that information and tells that he is going to deal with this himself, saying that Midnight Club doesn't owe anything to him anymore. Ryan's fellow club members say that Rhoads looks like a more reliable leader to the club rather than Rex, who overhears that and uses it as a chance to challenge Ryan and give him away to officer Teal. Once they arrange their ultimate street showdown, they drive to the starting place, and Rhoads informs officer Nitro about his race with McLaren.
Rex is about to race in his new McLaren P1, which Ryan has stolen for him before. He secretly contacts officer Teal and his colleagues during the race with Ryan, for whom it's already a bit hard to race with McLaren, due to him driving an actual race car. Along with race going on, a huge police chase also starts. In the halfway of the race, the heat unexpectedly cools down, much to Rex's confusion. As it turns out, officer Jack Nitro has reported about officer Teal and Rex McLaren to the Police Chief McLeod, so the chief has called everyone back to his office, leaving only officer Nitro to both street racers. Jack, catching up with racers, however, chases down only McLaren, instead of him and Ryan both. McLaren, remembering the tricks he taught young Nitro, evades him successfully, however, distracted by this, he loses the race to Ryan Rhoads. Once McLaren crosses the finish line, he tries getting away from Nitro only to be trapped in an alleyway by Ryan. Jack finally catches his old nemesis, whom before he considered his own mentor, and arrests him. While Rex is waiting inside Nitro's superfast car to be driven to the WCPD HQ, officer has a brief talk with Rhoads in front of his fellow club members. Jack expresses his gratitude to Ryan for assistance and asks on what would he want for his reward. Rhoads answers that he wants his Midnight Club friends out of jail, as well as Nitro's permission to race legally on the abandoned airfield Nick has found. Officer agrees on that and tells, that as long as racers don't cause any trouble in the city, they're always welcome to race on that airfield. As soon as officer Nitro drives away with Rex, Ryan realizes that everyone from the club watching the race have witnessed his conversation and tries to explain himself, however they all understand the situation and instead tell him that Ryan is #1 in the list of fame now, so he is the leader of Midnight Club and they all follow him. Ryan notices, that despite taking Rex away, officer Nitro hasn't taken away McLaren P1 as well, so he gets into that car himself, while Kira gets into the car Ryan has been racing McLaren before. Credits song "Heard That Sound" by MxPx starts playing, and Midnight Club street racers, following Ryan Rhoads, drive to the abandoned airfield, where they settle their new clubhouse and welcome their old friends, including Bad Brad, freed from imprisonment, while somewhere else Ed escapes from several cars of Pappalardo's people, which eventually smash his Dodge Charger R/T down and take the owed money from him.
