Background[]

Spoiler warning: Plot or ending details follow.

Daidan is a green dragon that dwells in the Land of Monsters.

At some point in time, Daidan's child was killed by the colossal Daidarabotchi, leaving her vengeful and resentful. One day after the Merge, Daidan sought to destroy the colossal monster's crystal egg to inflict the same pain it had inflicted upon her as a form of revenge. Her attempts at this were witnessed by Kai, who intervened and stopped her from attacking, as he believed she was attacking an innocent monster. Daidan objected telepathically, explaining her history with the monster to the ninja. Kai tried to talk Daidan out of her intentions, though she ignored his pleas by simply stating the egg wasn't a monster yet. As she flew towards the egg and prepared to unleash a burst of fire from her mouth, Daidan caught a glimpse of her reflection in the egg's surface and broke off her attack, instead flying to rescue Kai before he was crushed by the colossal monster. As they spoke later, Daidan dismissed Kai's words of gratitude, stating he had made her weak and that it was impossible to survive in the Land of Monsters without becoming a monster oneself. With these final words, Daidan and Kai parted ways.

Several days later, Daidan encountered Kai again when Rusty and him were along on the shores of a lake inhabited by a Sea Monster. After she gave more fire to Rusty, she smarmily noted that Kai was in need of help this time. Her mockery was cut short when she caught a glimpse of her child in the water's surface, safe and sound. With a mixture of shock and relief, Daidan followed the illusion into the water despite Rusty's warning. After Rusty's sacrifice broke the Sea Monster's illusions and entrancement over them, Daidan carried Kai out of the lake and shouted for him to kill the creature. Kai then managed to slay the beast with one blow.

In the aftermath, she and Kai sat along the banks of the lake and shared some parting words. The dragon admitted to the Master of Fire that she was wrong to believe protecting others was a sign of weakness. She then watched as Kai continued onward in his journey, vanishing into the sunrise to parts unknown.
