Class 3 article

Elrond is a minifigure from The Lord of the Rings theme. He was first released in 2012 with the pre-order edition of LEGO The Lord of the Rings: The Video Game. He will also appear in 79006 The Council of Elrond with a new Third Age variation.

Description

Second Age

The Second Age Elrond has Elvish long, brown hair. He has a warm-gold torso, gold arms, and flesh-coloured hands. His torso is printed to have the appearance of elvish armour. His legs are sand green and are printed with the continuation of the armour, He has a flesh-coloured face that is exclusive to him. One side is printed with an angry expression, and the other side with a calm expression. Both faces have black eyes with white centers, and brown eyelashes, as well as lines depicting cheek bones, a chin, and sagging lower eyelids. He wields an elvish spear and has a short dark blue cape and is exclusive to 5000202 Elrond, which one would receive when pre-ordering LEGO The Lord of the Rings: The Video Game.

Third Age

Elrond will come in 79006 The Council of Elrond in a new Third Age form. He has a long dark-brown hairpiece with two braids in the front and a silver decoration. He has a red torso, red arms, flesh-coloured hands, and reddish-brown legs. His torso and legs are printed to depict a red robe that he wears. He has a flesh-coloured head that is printed with a stern expression. He has black eyes with white centers, and brown eyelashes, as well as lines depicting cheek bones, a chin, sagging lower eyelids, and wrinkles on his forehead. His cape is double-sided; one side is red and the other side is light-brown. All of his pieces will be exclusive.

In LEGO The Lord of the Rings: The Video Game

Elrond appears in LEGO The Lord of the Rings: The Video Game in both his Second Age and Third Age variants. His Second Age variant is similar to the one that appears in 5000202 Elrond, except the lines on his face depicting his cheekbones are fainter, the lines depicting his sagging eyelids and chin are non-existent, and his torso and arms are cream instead of gold. He wields Hadhafang, can swing on poles and jump from tightropes, and has an elven jump. His Third Age variation is nearly identical in appearance to the one in 79006 The Council of Elrond, and has all the same abilities.

Background

Elrond was the son of the Man Earendil and the Elf Elwing, who founded the refuge of Rivendell in the Valley of Imladris. He was the father of Arwen, Elladan, and Elrohir.

In the Second Age, he fought in the Last Alliance of Men and Elves, as the herald of king Gil-galad. After the One Ring was cut off of Sauron in Mordor he told Isildur to destroy the Ring. Not heeding Elrond's advice, Isildur took the Ring and left.

When Isildur was killed, the shards of Narsil, the broken sword of Elendil, were brought to Rivendell to be kept until reforged again.

When Bilbo Baggins, along with Thorin and company, came to Rivendell, Elrond let them stay.

Elrond cared for Aragorn, descendant of Isildur, like a son until he was grown to become King of Gondor. During this period he reluctantly watched Aragorn and Arwen fall in love.

During the events of the Third Age, Elrond housed the 'Council of Elrond' in Rivendell, formed the Fellowship of the Ring, gave helping guidance and council to the Fellowship, and brought Anduril to Aragorn. After the events of The Lord of the Rings, Elrond departed Middle Earth alongside Galadriel, Celeborn, Cirdan the Shipwright, Gandalf, Bilbo Baggins, and Frodo Baggins for the Undying Lands at the very end of the Third Age.

Notes

  • Although he was originally pictured with a long cape, his Second Age variant comes with a short one.
  • He is similar to Legolas Greenleaf, who is also an elf.
  • During a cutscene in the video game where Elrond is looking at a manual to repair Frodo Baggins, an Agent Smith minifigure appears in the backround. This easter egg is a reference to the chracter that Hugo Weaving (Elrond's actor) played in The Matrix films.
