Explorer[Note 1] is a City subtheme introduced in 2023.
Description[]
Explorer acts as a successor to the previous exploration-based City subthemes, specifically Arctic, Deep Sea Explorers, and Jungle, whose settings are revisited in Explorer. Whereas the earlier subthemes were disconnected and self-contained, Explorer maintains a consistent logo depicting the Earth with compass rose as a ring around the globe; a color scheme of white, bright orange, and earth blue; and a recurring cast of minifigure characters, most of whom are generically called "explorers" or "adventurers" in product descriptions.
Explorer also acts as a spiritual successor to Adventurers. 60368 Arctic Explorer Ship revisits concept art of an unreleased Adventurers subtheme exploring viking shipwrecks in the Arctic; this concept art also referred to the Adventurers as "X-Plorers". Furthermore, updated Johnny Thunder minifigures appear in the 2024 Jungle Explorer wave and in 2025's 60470 Explorer Train.
