The set comes with the Helmet of Shadows piece previously worn by the Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu version of Lord Garmadon.
This set's version of Kai also comes in 10739 Shark Attack, 70611 Water Strider, and 70618 Destiny's Bounty. A nearly identical version (only missing the back scabbard) appears in 70615 Fire Mech. Versions with hair pieces instead of hoods appear in 70608 Master Falls, 70617 Temple of the Ultimate Ultimate Weapon, and 70629 Piranha Attack; one with kendo armor also appears in 71019 The LEGO Ninjago Movie Series.
This set's version of Zane also comes in 70615, 70616 Ice Tank, 70618, and 70631 Garmadon's Volcano Lair; a version with a hair piece appears in 70617.
