The Gunman is a Pirates minifigure introduced in 2009.

Description[]

The Gunman wears a black tricorne, a bright blue vest over a red-and-white striped shirt, and brick yellow pants. He has brown sideburns, eyebrows, mustache, and goatee, along with stubble. He is armed with a reddish brown flintlock pistol.

In the instruction booklet comic for 6243 Brickbeard's Bounty, the Gunman is depicted wearing a blue bandana and black pants, which are meant to be worn by another pirate according to the set's instructions.

An alternate variation of the Gunman, wearing Captain Brickbeard's bicorne, is included in the 2011 Grand livre jeu/Groot Speel - en Puzzelboek books. Another similar pirate is included in 6241 Loot Island, wearing earth green bandana and pants, though it is unconfirmed whether this is meant to be the same character.

Background[]

The Gunman is a member of Captain Brickbeard's pirate crew, sailing aboard the Brickbeard's Bounty. In the set's comic, the Gunman joins the search for a treasure map on the beach, then works with the Builder to fire one of the ship's cannons. He sees the Admiral's Daughter being chased by a shark, alerting the pirate crew to rescue her. After the Royal Navy pay a ransom for her return, the Gunman celebrates with the gold they earned.

In the Quest for the Pirate Dictionary! LEGO Club Magazine comic, the Gunman is confused about the definition of "Arghhh!" and wonders whether it means something is funny or strange. The similar pirate from 6241 is among the pirates celebrating the discovery of the Pirate Dictionary.[1]

In 4850307 LEGO Battles, the Gunman is the Ranged unit of the Pirates army. The Gunman's stats are 2/5 strength, 200 life, and 3/5 speed, and he costs 150 bricks to build.

In the Pirates Act 1 cutscene, the Gunman is passed out in the tavern, resting his head on a table in the background. In the Pirates Act 2 cutscene, the Gunman and Oarsman go to Enchanted Island to ask the Islander about the treasure map; the Gunman and Islander are shown to be good friends by their secret handshake, but then the Oarsman accidentally bludgeons the Gunman with an oar. In the Pirates Act 3 cutscene, the Gunman is sleeping beside one of the ship's cannons, so the Builder throws a crab at him to wake him up and alert him to approaching Imperial ships. In the Pirates Final cutscene, the Gunman and Oarsman row a boat full of gold to the Brickbeard's Bounty, and then haul one of the treasure chests aboard the ship.

The Gunman also appears in the unlockable concept art "Pirate Scene 2", "Pirate Scene 6", and "Pirate Scene 7". "Scene 2" depicts the passed-out Gunman in the Act 1 cutscene, while "Scene 6" and "Scene 7" depict the sleeping Gunman in the Act 3 cutscene from multiple angles.
