Dragon Matriarch

Dragon Matriarch

The Dragon Matriarch

The Dragon Matriarch is the leader of a herd of dragons that came to reside in the Land of Three Mountains after the events of the Merge.

The matriarch endeavored to keep her herd hidden and safe after the Merge, only for the young dragon Riyu to be abducted by the Claws of Imperium. However, Riyu escaped with the help of new friends Arin, Lloyd, and Sora and led them to his herd. The Imperium forces followed them to the Land of Three Mountains and crippled their airship, and only the matriarch's timely intervention saved them. Initially, the matriarch believed the trio to be in league with those who had abducted Riyu and were now attacking the rest of her herd, but gave them the chance to prove themselves after Riyu spoke up on their behalf.

Taking part in the battle herself, the matriarch saved Sora only to be targeted and briefly subdued by the hunters. However, Lloyd explained that Riyu had displayed the ability to boost Elemental Power, something even the matriarch was unfamiliar with. She took Lloyd's suggestion and used her powers to increase his, allowing him to defeat their enemies and free her. The matriarch then accepted her new allies, commenting on Lloyd's apparent wisdom.

As the matriarch prepared to relocate her herd to a new refuge, Riyu expressed a desire to remain with their new friends. The matriarch felt this decision was unwise, but decided that it was as good a beginning to the new relationship between their kinds as any. Unbeknownst to them, Empress Beatrix and Lord Ras of Imperium had apparently wanted Lloyd and the matriarch to connect, seeing it as a means of advancing their own quest for the Source Dragons.

Notes
  • The Dragon Matriarch, or an incredibly similar model, was featured in an animation shared on an Indian Lego Instagram channel.[1]

Source Dragons[]

Spoiler warning: Plot or ending details follow.

The Source Dragons are seven incredibly powerful dragons that are the origin for all elemental power.

Long ago, the First Spinjitzu Master collaborated with the Source Dragons after learning of the forthcoming event known as Coalescence. In order to prevent all the realms from coming together, he asked the Source Dragons to lend him their power, which he used to create the three Dragon Energy Cores. He was able to use them to halt Coalescence and keep the Sixteen Realms separate. Eventually, one of the Source Dragons wound up imprisoned in the realm of Imperium, whose inhabitants sought to use his power to fuel their technology. However, they found this process difficult to perfect, and so continued to drain lesser dragons for power as well.

Golden Legend Dragon[]

A dragon that appears in "Golden Legend", the first Legacy Reimagined short.

In a post-apocalyptic Ninjago ravaged by some unknown calamity or evil, this dragon (resembling Flame as depicted in 71753 Fire Dragon Attack) protects the six Ninja, who are in a form of hibernation in which they are encased in gold atop a large pillar that towers over the land. Able to shift between solid and smoky form, this dragon-whose left eye has been injured and is apparently no longer usable-protects the Ninja-his "masters"-from wave after wave of inhuman assassins. He longs for the time of his masters' awakening, looking forward to the day when "time will again have a name."
