Don't get me wrong these new badges help less developed parts of the wiki but when we come to this: [1] (No offense intended to the user that did this there are many others.) it gets a little ridicoulous. I'm proposing an idea that if the edit doesn't improve the article, but you just do it to get a badge that we need some rule to stop this. I've latetly been noticing this and I'm just wondering just to get a badge? klagoer name that user 12:18, September 14, 2011 (UTC)
- Ewww, I hate it when people link "set." Anyways, yeah, badges aren't the world. Chillax people. -NBP 15:20, September 14, 2011 (UTC)
- I think we're fine for now. Appreciate us wikignomes, please :) FB100Z • talk • contribs 03:47, September 15, 2011 (UTC)
- Yep, definitely can get annoying, or when people add/remove blank lines, or take 10 edits to link 10 words. But apart from using badge I don't think there' much you can do, short of removing the badges altogether. NightblazeSaber 04:41, September 15, 2011 (UTC)
- Al they get from badges is the higher rank on the board. That's why. Like I edit for all the right reasons. --Crazed Penguin talk Maniac, Pyscho, Crazy, just Crazed! 07:22, September 15, 2011 (UTC)
- It is annoying when people change it to XXXX Race Car is a TECHNIC set released in 2009. It includes a TECHNIC Race Car made up of 674 TECHNIC pieces. And I did actually see something like that... Jag 22:41, September 16, 2011 (UTC)
- I suppose we could start blocking people if they badge farm too much... but that seems a bit extensive. Ultimately, even though they aren't helping a lot, they are helping a very little bit and that's better than nothing (except the adding/removing blank lines, that is just dumb) ajr 01:48, September 17, 2011 (UTC)
Look, seriously. Pretend the badges don't exist, and look at the current situation again. So what if some nub decides to make 10 edits to fix 10 grammar mistakes? What matters is whether we help the wiki, not whether we take X edits to get there. We should only block people if they are being disruptive. FB out. - Meh. Even if a random new user works tirelessly at putting in full stops or linking 'set', and gets high up on the leaderboard, it's not like any of us actually care about who's on there or have any competitivity in getting high up on there. -

- People are a lot more competitive there than you'd think... :S -NBP 14:57, September 23, 2011 (UTC)
- If only, but people are too competitive. I think badges are stupid, but most people want prizes. BF2 Talk 18:13, September 23, 2011 (UTC)
So ma question is, is there really a point to this forum? I don't know if anyone else wants something done about these edits. If so, let's get something going. -NBP 12:51, September 26, 2011 (UTC)
- Request for closure; this one seems to have run its course. Badges are a nice motivation, and it's unethical to farm them, but said actions are non-disruptive and essentially harmless. FB100Z • talk • contribs 04:54, September 27, 2011 (UTC)
