Difference between Bonus/Value Packs and Product Collections

Hey. I've been looking at our articles for these and the difference is apparently that Bonus Packs contain special or exclusive sets as well. However, Value Pack also redirects there and as such the category seems to be a mix of ones that could, by our definition, are bonus packs, and others, that just contain two normal sets. So, if I was to make a list on both Bonus Pack and the Product Collection articles, what would I include in both (For instance, many things Brickset consider as Bonus Packs are really Product Collections)? ---It's a Kind of Madness--- Kingcjc 21:38, January 8, 2011 (UTC)

Product Collections are different from Bonus Packs. I'm pretty certain that Bonus Packs are promotional sets or store specials. A lot of sets are exclusive to a Bonus Pack. They're also older.

Product Collections are newer than Bonus Packs. All of the sets that they contain have been released separately. Some could be bought in LEGO Catalogs (prior to 2010) as K0000 sets. I'm not sure how to get others though. BobaFett

Yes, but see, other than the date, many things we have in the category Bonus Pack (as do Brickset) contain sets that could all be brought separately.. ---It's a Kind of Madness--- Kingcjc 21:55, January 8, 2011 (UTC)
I never said all Bonus Packs contained exclusive sets. But many do.

Then how do we define Bonus Packs? ---It's a Kind of Madness--- Kingcjc 22:00, January 8, 2011 (UTC)

Here's the differences for me:

  • Value Pack - multiple sets grouped together for significantly a lower price
  • Bonus Pack - often contains rare/exclusive sets or special items
  • Product Collection - nothing special-just multiple sets

So we should stop redirecting Value Pack to Bonus Pack? ---It's a Kind of Madness--- Kingcjc 22:05, January 8, 2011 (UTC)
Yes.

In reality, there is no differences between these three types of products Gladiatoring 22:41, January 8, 2011 (UTC)
How so?

I suppose because really, both Bonus and Value Packs are Product Collections (i.e., literally two or more products joined together). I would say that having them all as Product Collections would be easier.. ---It's a Kind of Madness--- Kingcjc 22:44, January 8, 2011 (UTC)
