Inventory images

I am glad that we provide inventories for set articles, but the images are inconsistent whether they are real photos, cartoon photos, or 3-D photos. I think that we should grab images off of the LEGO Digital Designer parts since there are so many when you add LEGO Universe access. Anyone have their opinions? I don't think so. They are digital, not physical. We can't always be consistent, but the digital images are:

A-lower quality
B-not physical, which is the most important thing

Often digital images are far better quality than self-photographed images (see the set pieces from Peeron.com). And they don't have to be physical, as long as they can be recognized (which can be better from digital images).  Samdo994 talk contribs  18:21, January 31, 2011 (UTC)
Often yes-but there are many high-quality images on bricklink and peeron.

And the LDD image aren't really that high quality. Sure, if it's recognizable, it helps, but it should be physical because the article is about a piece, not a digital representation of such. BobaFett

So do you think we should have no LDD photos? I think that if we can get consistent high-quality photos of every single part then we could use them, but if not, I think we should use LDD pics. Jag 18:35, January 31, 2011 (UTC)
I think it would be fine, if not good, to have an image from LDD on every article to represent the digital piece. But our primary focus is on The LEGO Company's actual sets, not their digital program.

I hate to jump in here, but I'm going to have to agree with Samdo. I would support the digital pics instead of the solid piece pictures (Makes the article look cleaner). -Nerfblasterpro: Can you believe it's only been a year? 19:29, January 31, 2011 (UTC)
I don't care what type of picture it is whether it be digital or real, to me it's whether the picture is low quality or high quality.

@NBP-it's not jumping in, it's contributing. I'd like to ask how it looks cleaner? You can get many high quality pics from bricklink and peeron, and these articles represent physical parts-it would be like putting a digital image of Darth Maul in the infobox.
