Comment: opposed

I've noticed a few occurrences of the infamous "Noob pages" recently, but not more or less than the time I've been here. It's the same vicious circle where a fairly new member (Brickipedian A), makes a new article assuming his data is useful (when it actually isn't) then walks away and leaves his "masterpiece" for an admin to find. After pulling out a percentage of the hair from their heads as an act of frustration, the admin will get rid of the page and carry on doing admin stuff.

BUT!

If we had a system where: Before a new article is submitted and displayed, the article is sent to someone to moderate the content, delete said "Noob pages" or edit those lacking formatting. Once the moderator has done this, the page will either be:

A) Thrown into oblivion and forgotten forever.

OR

B) Tidied up and sent into the rabble of Lego-y articles.

Tell me what you think about my idea in the comments below. --From the desk of Br1ck an1mator 15:45, May 9, 2012 (UTC)

Neutral[]

  • Neutral I know about all the bad pages that are made but i don't think that this is really the right solution to the problem, as this would create more problems by having trusted users pages not being properly added to the wiki until one of these moderators approves it. I would support this if it was just for Wiki Contributors and new users but as it isn't I'm going neutral.Clone gunner commander jedi talk
Yeah, I think it could be used for when Wikia contributors make pages but with registered users, how would we define a "new" user or an "old" user?--From the desk of Br1ck an1mator 16:08, May 9, 2012 (UTC)

Oppose[]

  • Like the thinking, don't like the idea. It's the wiki anyone can edit, there are some good articles. This is why the admins are here. I like what you're thinking though, and I do agree there has been a recurring pattern, but this idea won't work. Oppose if it is possible (which I doubt anyways). -NBP 15:49, May 9, 2012 (UTC)
Thanks, Nerf, I was a bit skeptical when thinking it over and I agree 100% that the majority of new articles are good articles. It might just be best to sieve through them manually. --From the desk of Br1ck an1mator 16:01, May 9, 2012 (UTC)
  • It doesn't take the loss of hair to delete an article. Also per NBP. Drewlzoo

  • Sorry, I really don't see the point. Checking to see whether new pages should stay or not- isn't that what Special:NewPages is for? NightblazeSaber 23:34, May 9, 2012 (UTC)
