Right. Over on Forum:Ratings tweak a lot has been happening. It is all a bit cluttered up. We have two ideas going round about having something to make ratings only be able to be changes by certain people. So here they are

Ideas[]
Custom User Group[]
We have a custom user group for Crown Knights. Pages are created for all articles being either <page>/Rating or Rating:<page>. Using <accesscontrol> we can make sure only people in the custom group can edit the page, which will have just the rating on it. The ratings template is changed to incorporate this.
Note:Bots would need to be used significantly. (Mediawiki: here and here.)
Pros[]
- Automatic rating info can be reached for any page. ie. {{Pagestatusquick}} could automatically update.
- Only users in the group could change ratings.
Cons[]
- Unless I am mistaken, this would stop non Crown Knight users from editing new pages, which would be a bad thing for many obvious reasons. Correct if I'm wrong. -Cligra Join the redlink war!
- No, Non-Crown knights cannot edit the Rating page. There is no protection level on the normal page. - nxt 15:56, June 14, 2011 (UTC)
