Set 700 from 1959?

Here's a few pix of my vintage Lego set, which I think is some kind of 700 set. See http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=291164&id=783433342.

My father travelled to Denmark and brought me back the top wooden-boxed set and town plan in 1959, when I was four. I was the first amongst my friends to have Lego by at least two years, and for all I know it could be one of the very first sets to enter the UK.

Despite being played with and loved for the next ten years, it has been well kept ever since and remains virtually complete. All that I can see is missing or damaged are some of the street lamps, a couple of items of greenery and a couple of the vehicles. Everything else is there.

During the sixties, I added quite considerably to the set – thin bricks in all six colours; the rail system and motor and battery pack and so on. Again, almost all of it is in excellent condition and boxed.

No idea what it's worth, but it's not important as I treasure it anyway. Hope readers enjoy it.

That's great! It's really lucky that you got one of those early LEGO sets, aside from being worth a fortune, they're just really interesting!
