A Great Eagle is a The Lord of the Rings creature that appeared in the LEGO The Lord of the Rings: The Video Game. One will also appear in the set 79007 Battle at the Black Gate in June 2013.
Background
During the Quest for reclaiming Erebor, the Great Eagles saved Thorin's Company from a group of Wargs and Orcs. Gwaihir, the leader of the Great Eagles made a brief appearance in the Battle of the Five Armies. He later saved Gandalf from the top of Orthanc and led him to Rohan. At the conclusion of the War of the Ring, he fought the Nazgûl's Fell Beasts and then flew with Gandalf and the other Eagles to Frodo and Sam rescuing them from Mount Doom, after they destroyed the Ring. The Great Eagles lived in the northern Misty Mountains, probably in the Eagles Eyrie.
