HIT Entertainment Limited (also doing business as Mattel Television) is a British-American entertainment company owned by Mattel and originally established in 1982 as Henson International Television. HiT is famous for the shows including Thomas & Friends, Bob the Builder, Fireman Sam, and Pingu. LEGO has created Licensed themes based on HiT Entertainment’s popular franchises including, Bob the Builder (theme) from 2001-2009 as a DUPLO and Explore Subtheme, and the Thomas & Friends theme which ran from 2005-2010 in the United States and from 2007-2010 in the United Kingdom. HiT Entertainment later signed a deal with LEGO’s Canadian rival toy company Mega Brands (now also owned by Mattel) for Thomas & Friends in 2010.
In recent years, the company has been involved in the production of Mattel cartoons.
