Spoiler warning: Plot or ending details follow.

The Ninja are taken out of Kryptarium Prison as part of a work detail along with several other inmates, including Fugi-Dove. The bizarre criminal insists that he and Jay are rivals, despite Jay noting that he has no idea who the convict is. The prison bus is then halted by the sight of an apparently broken-down van and its elderly driver, and the bus driver and guard offer assistance. Unexpectedly, the Ninja are able to escape thanks to the arrival of Nya, once again in the guise of Samurai X and piloting a new mech.

The driver of the broken-down van turns out to be Dareth, who drives off in his fully functional van with the Ninja as Nya sets the bus on its front to prevent any other inmates from escaping or the guards from pursuing them. Dwayne alerts Mayor Trustable to this development, and he calls the Police Commissioner with orders to hunt down the Ninja. When the Commissioner reminds him that his jurisdiction ends at the Ninjago City limits, the mayor orders that a call be made to Hounddog McBrag. Back in the desert, Dareth informs the Ninja that he has a new set of outfits for them from Pixal; they then discover that Fugi-Dove has stowed away on the van.

After being briefly pursued by a squad car, Dareth's van breaks down for real, forcing the passengers to make their way out into the desert. The group eventually decides to head for Twitchy Tim's gas station, unaware that Hounddog McBrag has arrived at the stranded bus to take charge of the manhunt. Lloyd decides that the group needs to split up to increase their chances of avoiding detection, and takes Cole and Jay (and Fugi-Dove) along with him while the others head off on another route to the station.

Spoilers end here.
