Class 3 article

IG-88 is a LEGO Star Wars-themed Minifigure released in 2006. He was a droid bounty hunter that operated during the Galactic Civil War. IG-88A was a rival of Boba Fett, another Bounty Hunter. Of the IG Assassin Droid line, IG-88B was hired by Darth Vader to capture Han Solo, along with Dengar, Bossk, and Boba Fett, resulting in a rivalry between them. Shortly before the Battle of Endor, IG-88A connected with the Death Star II and became a part of the station itself. He was destroyed when the station exploded, while IG-88B was destroyed a year before on Cloud City. In the video game LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga, IG-88 can access bounty hunter, protocol droid, and astromech droid panel doors.

Background

IG-88 was a droid created by a group of scientists, along with 3 other IG-88s. However, the intelligence programs with which they were outfitted caused them to rebel, killing their creators. The four droids took over Mechis III to serve as a base, IG-88B took up a carer as bounty hunting to distract attenion from Mechis III. When the hunt for Han Solo began IG-88B followed Boba Fett to Cloud City. Boba was able to destroy the droid and left it for scrap on Bespin. As Boba was leaving for Jabba's Palace on Tatooine he was confronted by IG-88C and IG-88D in a space battle. Boba Destroyed IG-88C's ship, as well as D's. IG-88D was somehow able to survive. IG-88D would eventually be taken out in the Battle of Gall. IG-88A had a plan, He took over the second Death Star, and planned to start a droid revolution. Before this could happen, the rebels were able to destroy the Second Death Star. IG-88A's body was found and reprogramed as a bodyguard.IG-88 also had a ship, the IG-2000.

Description

The droid is mainly Metallic Silver, with one part in Transparent Flourescent Reddish-Orange. It is extremely similar in looks to the ordinary Assassin Droid. The 2011 redesign is entirely Dark Stone Grey with one printed piece.
