- "Me, King Kahuka, beat you like tribal drum…"
- ―King Kahuka in LEGO Racers
King Kahuka,[1][2] known outside North America as Chief Quextil,[3] is an Islanders minifigure introduced in 1994.
Description[]
King Kahuka wears little clothing, exposing much of his bare bright yellow body. His torso bears a white necklace and a red sash, and his dark green hip continues with leaf printing on his legs. He usually wears a large bright red tribal mask with a white plume. He wears white facepaint with a blue outline and red spots on his cheeks.
In 4850307 LEGO Battles, King Kahuka's torso print has been replaced with that of Achu.
Background[]
King Kahuka is the leader and king of the Islanders. His two sons are Thu and Kothu, who tend to him at his throne. He is a friend of the the Admiral, and he asks LEGO Mania Magazine readers to help give the Admiral a proper name.[4]
Bricks 'n' Pieces establishes that he has the same birthday as Captain Roger.[5] By extension, he also shares his birthday with Governor Broadside according to Captain Roger's Birthday.
LEGO Racers[]
King Kahuka is the hosting champion of Circuit 2 in LEGO Racers. In the game's intro FMV cutscene, he uses a Turbo power-up at Desert Adventure Dragway but ends up driving into a pile of sand, costing him his lead. In the Circuit 2 intro cutscene, he boasts that he will beat the player like a tribal drum and do a victory dance.
King Kahuka is arguably the easiest boss, as he uses only very defensive tactics throughout each race and prioritizes the Shield over all other power ups. However, this makes it difficult to slow him down with red or yellow bricks. By winning Circuit 2, the player will be rewarded with King Kahuka's car set and Islanders minifigure parts.
If the player waits long enough in the menu of LEGO Racers, there will be a demo race where King Kahuka takes the place of the player.
King Kahuka also appears in the queue line of Rocket Racers. In the qualifying race shown in the queue line video, Kahuka rides a vehicle resembling 2586 The Crazy LEGO King combined with a tricycle. Despite clearly being outmatched by the other racers, Kahuka never gives up and takes time to wave to adoring fans and pit crew members. In an interview with Barry Baloney, Kahuka insists that he cannot make mistakes because he is king.[6]
LEGO Battles[]
King Kahuka appears in 4850307 LEGO Battles in the Pirates story campaigns. He allies with Captain Brickbeard and his pirates as they protect each other from Governor Broadside's Imperial Soldiers and the Red Ninja Master's Ninjas. In the Pirates Act 2 cutscene, King Kahuka can be seen in the Islander village. In the level "Heads Up", King Kahuka must be rescued from the Imperials. In the Imperial Act 2 cutscene, two Ninjas reenact King Kahuka's capture of the Ninja Master.
As the Hero unit of the Islanders, King Kahuka has 5 strength, 1000 life, 500 bricks, and 1 speed. His Magic abilities are Area Speed Boost, Area Damage Boost, Jungle Growth, and Coconut Swarm.
LEGO Quest & Collect[]
King Kahuka is an unlockable hero in LEGO Quest & Collect. He is a magic defender with the skills "Tribal Dance", "Shield Smash", and "Fear Removal". A corrupted King Kahuka appears as the boss of Ep. II-14 Rocky Road, making him the penultimate boss of the Whispering Forest.

Notes[]
- Although King Kahuka does not appear in LEGO Island 2: The Brickster's Revenge, concept art of Kahuka from LEGO Racers is used to represent Chief Legog in the game's design document.[7] However, Achu fills Chief Legog's role in the released game, and is internally referred to as CHIEF LEGOG by the Game Boy Advance version.[8] The Adventurers Island Character Document for LEGO Island 3 represents both Chief Legog and Achu with Achu's minifigure.[9]
- In DK Minifigure Ultimate Sticker Collection, his name was misspelled "King Kuahka" instead of "Kahuka".
- A maskless version of King Kahuka is depicted on 4229619 Memo Pad Minifig - (K) Islander.
- On the box of 6236 King Kahuka, King Kahuka's name in Spanish is written as Rey Kajuka (King Kajuka), while French uses the same spelling as English in its translation Le Roi Kahuka (King Kahuka). In LEGO Racers, King Kahuka's names in other languages are Rey Uka Shaka Uka (King Uka Shaka Uka) in Spanish and Kong Kanuka (King Kanuka) in Danish. Other languages use literal translations of his English name: Re Kahuka in Italian, König Kahuka in German, Koning Kahuka in Dutch, and Kong Kahuka in Norwegian.
- In Rocket Racers, King Kahuka is voiced by Dave Lamb, who also voices all other characters in the queue line video including Barry Baloney, Freddy Sherbert, Rocket Racer, and Baron von Barron.[source?]
