Kothu[1] is a character from the Pirates Islanders subtheme.
Description[]
Like all other generic Islanders, Kothu wears simple tribal clothing, white and red facepaint, and black hair tied up around a white horn bone.
Background[]
Kothu is an islander and Thu's brother. They are the sons of Chief Quextil and Amaritza.[2]
While Kothu and Thu are named exclusively in the German radio drama Die Insel der schaurigen Masken, the USA Shop At Home catalog's product description for 6262 King Kahuka's Throne refers to the two generic male Islanders as King Kahuka's sons,[3] which is consistent with the radio drama referring to the chief as having two sons and thereby heavily implies that these minifigures represent Kothu and Thu.
Notes[]
- Kothu was planned to appear as a major character in The Island of Mist, an unpublished sequel to The Golden Medallion.[4] Kothu's appearance differs significantly from the Islander minifigures in 6262 King Kahuka's Throne, which may suggest that the comic illustrations predate the finalized Islanders subtheme.
