Wyldfyre examines the injured Heatwave, and is stunned when Kai tells her to wait before running off. Meanwhile, Nya and Sora are still reeling from their unexpected meeting with Cole, who sheds his rocky armor after Sora mentions Shintaro. Nya introduces Cole to Sora and Riyu, and Cole explains that he awoke in the Land of Lost Things after the Merge. They are then introduced to Fritz and Spitz, two of his new acquaintances known as the Finders, and Sora is stunned to learn the name of their location, which she is familiar with from Imperium folklore. However, the pleasant exchange is interrupted by the arrival of a massive, misshapen being that Cole identifies as the Hoarder.
As they flee the beast, Cole explains that the Land of Lost Things is where things that have been forgotten end up. He then leads them into a refuge where they meet Geo, another of Cole's new acquaintances. When Nya questions the decision to hide, Cole explains that the Hoarder has reformed, and become more dangerous, every time it has been confronted. Geo volunteers to delay it while Cole opens up a tunnel for the others to escape, noting as he does that ever since the Merge he has felt the land "screaming" by means of his elemental power.
Geo, who proves to have an elemental power of his own, succeeds in delaying the Hoarder while Jiro and Zanth arrive to carry the group to safety. Cole then explains that Geo has the power of Fusion, enabling him to create bonds between objects that only he can break. Sora comments on her own powers, which she continues to believe come from Riyu in spite of Nya's claims. The Hoarder interrupts their conversation, but they take refuge in the Finders' home base, the Rookery.
Inside, they meet a Skulkin named Bonzle, and in response to Nya's inquiries Cole reveals that the Finders all ended up in the Land of Lost Things after running away from home and being forgotten. Sora, hearing this, contemplates her own past and wonders if she might not have ended up among the Finders had she not met Arin. Cole then leads the newcomers to the source of their protection, an antiquated-by Imperium standards-piece of technology that proves to be powered by the Dragon Core. Back in the Wyldness, Kai examines rocks and finds several with crystals inside that he instructs Wyldfyre to help him find.
Cole prevents Nya from taking the Dragon Core, noting that it's the only thing keeping the Hoarder from destroying the Finders. He then explains that the Finders are unable to leave the Land of Lost Things, with a magical fog blocking every attempt to do so in spite of Cole's own ability to depart. Sora offers to find a new means of powering the machine repelling the Hoarder, and surprises Geo by telling him that he will provide the power. Cole and Nya head out to search for parts, and discover what appear to be pieces of a Portal Gate like the one from beneath the Monastery of Spinjitzu.
In the Wyldness, Kai begins applying the crystals to Heatwave's wounds, and to Wyldfyre's surprise they begin to help the dragon. Back at the Rookery, Sora explains her plan to have Geo power up a battery that will power the machine. She also shares her unfortunate history in Imperium, and Geo recounts his own sad story of being a Munce with Geckle coloration and having no memory of his parents. Nya and Cole's search for parts is interrupted by Imperium Droids attacking Jiro, and the Hoarder arrives to further complicate the situation. Cole takes on the monstrosity while Nya goes to Jiro's aid, but when Nya encourages him to assume his rock armored form again, he reveals that he can only do it with an infusion of Geo's powers.
Nya is skeptical, not having heard of Elemental Powers ever being shared; when Cole brings up Sora and Riyu's relationship, Nya affirms her belief that Riyu is increasing Sora's own powers that she is blocked from fully accessing by something. At the Rookery, Dr. LaRow and some more droids confine Zanth, and LaRow bemoans Empress Beatrix's disinterest in capturing dragons before advancing on the structure. Sora prepares to assemble her new battery with Riyu's help, noting that she can't use powers like Geo's or Cole's rock armor by herself. Her mention of the armor perturbs Geo, but they are then interrupted by Bonzle with news of LaRow's arrival.
LaRow notes that the Land of Lost Things is a dumping ground for failed Imperium experiments before siccing her droids on Sora. One of them succeeds in stealing the Dragon Core, and Nya goes after LaRow on Jiro while the others-including the freed Zanth-join in battling the Hoarder as it advances on the unprotected Rookery. Noting the beast's particular interest in Imperium technology, Sora gets a boost from Riyu and pulls the beast apart to reveal a blob-like creature. Fritz and Spitz put it in a jar, and Sora introduces it as Sweeper, a failed Imperium cleanup experiment.
Geo takes advantage of the moment to admit that he hasn't been giving Cole a power up, as his power doesn't affect living creatures. Cole's rock armor is an ability of his own, and Geo only let him believe that he helped with it because he feared Cole would leave. However, Cole assures him that, while Geo may not have given him his new ability, he did help him unlock it. Nya returns with word of LaRow's escape, and the villainous doctor sends word of her success to Beatrix. Back in the Wyldness, however, Wyldfyre is relieved to see Heatwave recovering thanks to Kai's treatment, and admits that there may be something to the lessons he learned from Master Wu.
