Background[]

Link is the name of many different heroes throughout the history of Hyrule. They are distinguished with titles, such as the Hero of Time from Ocarina of Time and The Hero of the Wild from Breath of the Wild.

Hero of Time[]

Hero of the Wild[]

This incarnation of Link was once a knight appointed to Princess Zelda and was a part of the Champions, a group of five warriors (including Zelda), Daruk, Mipha, Urbosa, Revali and Link himself who were all set on fighting Calamity Ganon. To be of aid to the Champions, the Sheikah created the Four divine beast for the champions, sans Link, to pilot as assist on defeating Calamity Ganon and automatons called Guardians. Unfortunately, Ganon took control of the Guardians and the Divine Beast, which lead to the Champions demise. However, Link managed to survive, albeit heavily injured, being saved at the last minute by Zelda using the Triforce's power. Due to his injuries, Link was sent to the shrine of resurrection and was left in deep slumber to recover.

100 years later, an amnesiac Link is awaken from his slumber by Zelda's voice in the Shrine of Resurrection, where he would obtain a Sheikah Slate. Upon leaving the shrine, Link meets an old man, who later appears using a paraglider after Link actives The Great Plateau Tower. The Old man trades Link the Paraglider in return for 4 spirit orbs. The Old man would later reveal himself to be King Rhoam of Hyrule, the last king of Hyrule before it's destruction by Calamity Ganon and the controlled Guardians. Rhoam tasks Link to travel to Kakiriko Village where he would meet Impa before vanishing. Link would then travel to Kakiriko village and talk with the elder Impa, who recalls the story of how the Sheikah and Champions prepared for the battle against calamity Ganon. Impa also reveals that Zelda had kept 12 photos, with locations where Link can recover his memories, after recovering at least one of the recovered memories, Link is gifted his Champions Tunic. Impa would now task link with reawakening the Four divine beasts.

Link would succeed in reawaking the four divine beasts and determinately, collect all 12 memories, the last memory is recovered from a picture on the wall in Impa's house. Link would then travel to the Korok forest, where Zelda had left the Master Sword after Links severe injury in the initial battle against Calamity Ganon. Link retrieves the Master Sword from the pedestal in Korok forest. Link later makes his way to the remains of Hyrule Castle, where Calamity Ganon resides. Before the fight against Ganon, the Four Devine Beasts, controlled by the Spirits of the deceased champions, weakens Ganon. Link defeats Ganon in his initial form, but Ganon transforms into Dark Beast Ganon. To fight off this beast, Link is given the Bow of Light by Zelda. Link succeeds in defeating the beast which freed Zelda, whom she asks if he remembers her.
