Lord Ras is Ninjago Minifigure introduced in 2023.

Background[]

Spoiler warning: Plot or ending details follow.

Hailing from the Wyldness, one of the Sixteen Realms, Lord Ras was a young child when he encountered the being he would come to regard as his master. From this teacher, Ras learned to value strength above all else; later, he encountered one of the seven Source Dragons at some point. Seeing in its power the potential to conquer all the realms, Ras traveled to the realm of Imperium. In an audience with Emperor Levo, he proposed that they use Imperium’s technology to capture the Source Dragon. The benevolent Levo, however, rejected Ras’ proposals and dismissed him with a humiliating display of his daughter Zeatrix’s Elemental Powers.

However, Zeatrix’s younger twin sister, Beatrix, jumped at the chance to seize the power she felt she had been denied. She and Ras orchestrated her father’s death through sabotage, and staged a coup that saw Zeatrix imprisoned and Beatrix elevated to the throne. Lord Ras, despite being an “outlander”, became Beatrix’s right hand. They soon orchestrated the capture of the Source Dragon, but draining its power proved more difficult than anticipated.

Following the unification of the Sixteen Realms through the Merge, Ras directed his attention towards a young dragon named Riyu, as part of his grand scheme. Recognizing the unique life force possessed by Riyu, akin to that of other formidable dragons, Ras was determined to harness this power for his own purposes. He went so far as to personally become involved in Riyu's recapture, which saw his first encounter with Arin and Sora. Ras also observed from a distance as the pair and their new mentor, the Ninja Lloyd, interacted with dragons from the Land of Three Mountains.

In order to achieve Beatrix's goal of conquering the Sixteen Realms, Ras recrtuied Dorama and instructed him to reactivate the Photac and create multiple copies. These copies were then activated by Sora, who was compelled to do so against her will. The purpose of the Photacs was to serve as wolf-like creatures specifically designed to hunt down all the dragons that existed. Later, after Riyu was captured by Imperium, Beatrix ordered all his energy drained, which Ras protested but ultimately went along with. He would then confront Arin and Sora when they came to rescue Riyu, and despite his great power and combat skill was defeated.

Sora subsequently used her Elemental Powers to permanently disable the Photacs, effectively putting an end to their threat. As a result of this failure, Ras was held responsible and subsequently arrested. Ras was confined to a cell beneath Imperium, where he was still able to learn about goings on from Beatrix's broadcasts and other overheard news. After a failure involving the Dragon Energy Cores, one of which had been replaced with a fake, Beatrix went to see Ras in his cell. He appealed to her to free him so that he could assist in their former plans, but Beatrix ultimately refused.

After Jordana succeeded in draining power from the Source Dragon he had helped capture, only for Beatrix to be defeated, Ras escaped from his cell and contacted his true master. Acting on their instructions, Ras invited Jordana, who had kept some of the Source Dragon’s power for herself, to join them. At some point, he also recruited the new Elemental Master of Smoke, Cinder, and various other warriors who would make up the Wolf Clan. Eventually, the group made their way back to his home realm of the Wyldness in search of the Shadow Dojo.

Having reached the ancient location, Ras was able to open its sealed doors using some of the Source Dragon energy Jordana had hoarded. He then deployed Cinder to recover a mallet needed to use an artifact contained within: the Gong of Shattering. With both relics in hand, Ras was able to empower his Wolf Clan and advance his plans to unlock the secrets of a feared group of ancient warriors: the Forbidden Five. Ras led his forces in an invasion of the Cloud Kingdom, whose Scroll-Worms he had previously cursed so that he could corrupt them to his own service. He was thus able to force the Writers of Destiny to assist in translating scrolls written in Theroxian, the dark language of the Forbidden Five.

When several of the Ninja arrived to confront Ras' forces, he noted with amusement that their hopes of stopping him from "trying" to gain the secrets of the Forbidden Five had already been dashed. He then demonstrated by using the Gong of Shattering, giving his minions increased power in the ensuing battle. When he powered up Cinder, the results were so devastating that the Ninja had no choice but to flee. Ras thus assumed unopposed control of the Cloud Kingdom, and anticipated enacting the Blood Moon ritual that would enable him to bring the Forbidden Five back.
