Background[]
- Mary is an adult female who appears in E.T. She is the single mother of Michael, Elliott, and Gertie. She is mostly oblivious to E.T.'s presence in her household. Her husband left her prior to the start of the film and is living with his girlfriend, Sally, in Mexico. Like Gertie, she's intially scared of E.T., but she gets over that fear when she sees just how much her kids, especially Elliott, care about the alien.
