Michelangelo Buonarroti is one of the characters in the 2014 film, The LEGO Movie.[1]
Background[]
Michelangelo was one of the most prominent artists during the Italian Renaissance.
The LEGO Movie[]
Michelangelo is among the Master Builders that meet in Cloud Cuckoo Land and was seen working on a statue. Vitruvius distinguishes him from Michelangelo the Ninja Turtle by pronouncing their names slightly different. The turtle's name is pronounced normally, with a long "I" as in "Mike". Vitruvius pronounces the artist's name with a short "I" as in "Mick". During the final battle against Lord Business' forces, Michelangelo was seen with William Shakespeare riding with Abraham Lincoln on his rocket chair.
Notes[]
- He is one of only few master builders in The LEGO Movie that was never released in a set or in 71004 The LEGO Movie Series. This may mean he was a custom minifigure made by either "The Man Upstairs" or Finn.
- He appears along with Abraham Lincoln in a bonus feature for The LEGO Movie's Blu-ray release titled "Michelangelo and Lincoln: History Cops."
- He is the only Master Builder to never have been caught by Lord Business.
