Mike (misnamed Harry Cane in 5784 Soccer Mania) is an Adventurers Dino Island minifigure introduced in 2000. He appears in several Adventurers sets, as well as having an appearance in the video game LEGO Racers 2.

Description[]

Mike wears an earth orange vest over a white shirt, grey pants, and an earth orange Western Cap. His torso is also printed with two buttons on his shirt collar, a grey rope belt, and a slingshot tucked into his belt. His face is printed with black hair, eyebrows, freckles, and dimples that give him a youthful appearance.

In 5784 Soccer Mania, Harry Cane retains Mike's head but otherwise has a completely different outfit. He has a brick yellow jacket worn over a light green and dark green striped shirt, black pants, and an earth orange Safari Hat. Since "Harry Cane" has Mike's face while the real Harry Cane appears in the same game as "Billy Speed", this character is most likely intended to represent Mike.

Background[]

Mike is a young boy who was rescued by Johnny Thunder during a previous adventure; according to his profile in LEGO Adventures! Magazine comics, he secretly stowed away aboard the Island Hopper before joining the team on Dino Island. He hopes to keep a Baby Tyrannosaurus Rex since he never had a pet before.

In the comics included in sets such as 5912 Mike's Swamp Boat, Mike rescues a Pteranodon and teams up with it to help Johnny and Dr. Kilroy save a baby T-Rex from Sam Sinister. In Adventures in LEGO World: Double Trouble on Dino Island, Mike helps Johnny track a T-Rex. When Johnny falls into Sam and Alexia Sinister's trap, Mike leads the mother T-Rex back to Johnny so she chases the villains into their own trap. In Обед Для Динозавра, Mike and Pippin Reed (misrepresented with Alexia's minifigure) fly the Island Hopper to rescue Johnny and Kilroy from an erupting volcano. In Убивимелъный полём, Mike and Johnny launch fruits at a Stegosaurus to distract it from Sam Sinister.

In LEGO Racers 2, Mike makes an appearance by the 5987 Dino Research Compound on Dino Island. When spoken to during exploration mode, he gives the player a clue on the location of a Golden Brick.

In 5784 Soccer Mania, Harry Cane is a member of the Adventurer Explorers soccer team, who have one of the pieces of the spaceship needed to hunt down the Brickster. The player's team faces off against the Adventurer Explorers at Rescue Center HQ; after beating them, Harry is unlocked and may be added to the player's team.

Behind the Scenes[]

A LEGO Media document describing the storyline of the Dino Island includes a character profile that goes into greater detail than what is described in official publications. It mentions Mike's background as a homeless boy living on Baker Street in London. Similar to his profile in LEGO Adventures! Magazine, Mike joined the adventurers after stowing away aboard the cargo steamer M/S Queen II during their expedition to Volcano Island.[1]

Mike
Mike is 12 years old and homeless. He stole on board because he wanted to get away and see the world.
Mike is a smart boy – with a lower-class behaviour he is always good for a quick remark. He is very independent, however he seeks security with the Adventure group, as they are his family now. He fights to gain respect from each and every one and is doing his utmost all the time.

Notes[]

  • Mike does not appear in DK Minifigure Ultimate Sticker Collection in the Adventurers section, but he appears as an extra sticker.
  • The Newspaper Kid shares several notable visual traits with Mike, including a white shirt with two buttons on the collar, a brown cap, a slingshot, and freckles. Therefore, the Newspaper Kid may have been intended as a reference to Mike, similar to the Curator being a reference to Dr. Kilroy, although this remains unconfirmed.
