Oswald the Lucky Rabbit is a minifigure released in 2023 for Disney's 100 anniversary minifigures.

Background[]

Oswald the Lucky Rabbit was created by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks in 1927. Although it is commonly thought that Mickey Mouse is Disney's first breakthrough cartoon, it was actually Poor Papa, starring Oswald. Soon, Disney lost copyright to the character from Universal, radically redesigning him, before abandoning the character altogether. In 2006, 79 years later, The Walt Disney Company would regain the rights to the character from NBCUniversal in trade for Al Michaels' as the play-by-play announcer on NBC Sunday Night Football. The character would regain his popularity thanks to the 2010 video game Epic Mickey, and received a new short 95 years later on Disney's streaming service Disney+.
