Professor Huyang is a Star Wars minifigure introduced in 2023.

Background

Huyang was an ancient droid, stooped with age yet still spry of mind. Huyang was a storied architect and professor, who oversaw the construction of lighstabers for centuries. Based out of the training vessel Crucible, Huyang guided younglings after they had successfully completed their task of securing a kyber crystal from the icy caverns of Ilum. Huyang helped them visualize their lightsaber parts, and pulled the needed supplies from his vast trove. His ancient memory systems contained records of every lightsaber constructed.

Managing to survive the turmoil of both the Clone Wars and the Galactic Civil War, Huyang began traveling in the company of former Jedi Padawan Ahsoka Tano. He also assisted in the training of Ahsoka’s own apprentice, Sabine Wren, despite feeling that she would never have been accepted into the Jedi Order as it had been. Professor Huyang accompanied Ahsoka to Peridea, where he met Ezra Bridger. Upon learning that Ezra had been mentored by Kanan Jarrus, Huyang made Ezra a gift of a lightsaber component matching one that Kanan had used to construct his own lightsaber. Huyang would be left on Peridea with Ahsoka and Sabine after Ezra and forces led by Grand Admiral Thrawn managed to escape back to their home galaxy.

Trivia

• Huyang was voiced by David Tennant, who also played Barty Crouch Jr. in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and the Tenth Doctor in Doctor Who.
  • In a humorous nod to the latter role, Huyang is said to have been delivered to the Jedi Temple in a “large blue box.”
