Race to Burning Mountain is an Adventurers Orient Expedition alternate model that was released in 2003.

Description[]

Race to Burning Mountain is an alternate model of 7417 Temple of Mount Everest. Building instructions are available on LEGO.com's LEGO Club Buildits page. It consists of three models: the Prop-Ski, the Jet Jalopy, and Burning Mountain.

The Prop-Ski is Johnny Thunder's vehicle. It is comprised largely of black, earth orange, and grey bricks, although it has a bright yellow flag. It resembles a sleigh with a large propeller on the back, giving it the appearance of an airboat. There is a clip for a Rucksack W. Film Hinge.

The Jet Jalopy is Lord Sam Sinister's vehicle. It is mostly black and grey with a few bright yellow elements. It has two wheels in the back and a single earth orange snowshoe in the front, and appears to be propelled by a flame-emitting engine. Two more snowshoes are held in place by a bright yellow Nose Cone Small 1x1.

Burning Mountain is largely represented by two white BURPs: one Mountain Bottom 4x10x6 and one Mountain Top 3x8x7. Three flames are attached by Nose Cone Small 1x1s, giving the mountain its name. The top BURP is attacked to a trapdoor that, when opened, reveals a transparent yellow Diamond With Stick placed on a pedestal inside the mountain.

Background[]

In the Himalayas, Johnny Thunder and Lord Sam Sinister compete to be the first to reach Burning Mountain and discover its secret Fire Gem.
