Raven is a Super Heroes minifigure who appears in LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham.

Background

Rachel Roth is a powerful sorceress; as the daughter of the demon Trigon the Terrible, she has been the unfortunate source of her father's demonic influence in the mortal dimension. Her mother Arella raised her in the inter-dimensional realm of Azarath, along with the monks there, to teach her how to control her dark powers. As Raven grew older, so did her abilities as well as her father, whom wished to conquer the mortal universe through her. Fleeing Azarath, she made her way to Earth where she found and gathered young superheroes such as Robin (Dick Grayson), Cyborg, Beast Boy, Wonder Girl (Donna Troy), Kid Flash (Wally West), and Starfire. Together, they successfully banished Trigon from claiming Earth and became the new superhero team called the Teen Titans.

As a half-demon from another dimension, the full extent of Raven's powers are unknown even to her. Her lessons from the monks of Azarath have allowed her in control of much of what she does know; her levitation, telekinesis, and healing abilities make her an invaluable asset to her friends and allies. However, there are times when she has accomplished even greater feats; opening inter-dimensional portals and even stopping time have occurred rarely, and only in the most desperate of situations.

Her personality is also as dark as her outfit and appearance. Due to her powers being based on the her emotional states, she has had to remain composed and stoic to prevent any unwanted outbursts of dark energy. This had made her look and sound much like Earth's equivalent of a goth. Underneath her dark cloak, however, is a strong-willed being with a high sense of morality which even her fellow teammates admire. Her dark humor and actions also betray her devoted care and gratitude toward her friends' acceptance of her, despite her heritage. In both her past history and present actions, Raven's nature has proved time and time again that there is a bright light even in a never-ending darkness.

Appearances

Trivia

  • Compared to the ever-changing appearances of DC superheroes, Raven is one of few whose overall costume has changed the least: she essentially wears a voluminous royal blue to violet cloak with a hood.
  • Despite her gloomy personality, Raven has harbored strong feelings for Beast Boy, both of whom have even dated on occasion.
  • When casting her magic power, Raven's eyes glow white; however, she sports four red eyes whenever she is genuinely angry--a trait she shares with her demon father.
  • Unlike Starfire and Beast Boy, Raven's appearance is based on her comic portrayals. (Although there is some resemblance to her animated counterpart.)
  • In "Teen Titans" and "Teen Titans Go!", she is voiced by Tara Strong, who also voiced Batgirl multiple times (since "The New Batman Adventures") and H.E.R.B.I.E. in "The Super Hero Squad Show" and LEGO Marvel Superheroes.
  • Raven is the only member of the Teen Titans that has not been released or confirmed to be released.
