Although this article is about an official minifigure, it never existed in physical form or appeared in any official LEGO sets.

Scooter is a minifigure introduced in 1999 that appears in the LEGO Racers video games.

Description[]

As a default playable character, Scooter is comprised of minifigure parts that are available by default in the character builder: white hair, the Ice Planet Astronaut's head, Indy LeMans' bright red torso, and white legs. In the Game Boy Color version, he appears to be wearing a white pith helmet.

Background[]

In LEGO Racers, Scooter is one of the default playable racers that are pre-built on every new save file, along with Turbo Charger, Roboracer, and Joan of Kart. While he does not originate from any theme, his appearance is based around the Race theme.

In the Game Boy Advance sequel 5780 LEGO Racers 2, Scooter appears as a CPU opponent racer on Dino Island, Mars, and Arctic races, replacing Baron Rosso from the console version.

Trivia[]

  • The Ice Planet Astronaut (whose face texture, named "Will Chill" in game development documents provided by artist Pete McLennon,[1] is used by Scooter) appears in set 1711/1731/3014, which is commonly identified by fan websites as "Ice Planet Scooter". However, due to a lack of official material confirming the LEGO set's actual English title, it is unlikely that Scooter's name is intended as a reference to this set.
  • In the game files of the PC version of LEGO Racers 2, FILELIST.INF contains textures for a character named Scooter. However, these textures refer to Scooter from Arctic and not Scooter from the Game Boy Advance version,[2] although neither character actually appears in the PC and PlayStation 2 versions in any capacity.
  • While Scooter has a white version of the real life LEGO 3901 hair piece, a white variant was never actually officially produced, thus making it exclusive to media.
  • In addition to his hair, Scooter's car also contains fictitious lego pieces. The red and yellow wedges on the vehicle do not actually exist in reality. The closest LEGO piece that has been produced is part 2399, which appears to have been split apart in Lego Racers.
